OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

I know Parra are putting in 3 of their 18yr olds to play against Canberra in that trial game and am sure they haven't had much game time against men. Might be the new trend!!
It's not new it's quite common for the first week of trials... New recruits,. 2nd stringers and juniors usually get a run here and week 2 it's mainly pretty close to what the round 1 team will be... Maybe even for only 40 minutes

Yeah one mis tackle and his shoulder will be gone. Needs a dozen games in nsw plus a few nrl games at end of the year. Anther preseason amd who knows.
Well I’m near certain plenty of our younger players will be playing in the NRL trials, it’s as much chance a player can get injured in NRL trials as they could in actual NRL games.
So that throws your theory out the window.

Don’t be surprised if we go into trial one with an extremely strong line up.

Moving on, what about young Fainu. He’s had a taste and I’m sure he was signed with some “playing NRL bait”. Is he in the same boat as Galvin or definitely a work in progress ?
It’s amazing how quickly he has been forgotten about by some on here.
I would be more convinced that if he has had a big pre season and stands out in the trials, then he will come into contention for the starting 5/8 this year.

I'm not sure if Fainu played NRL yet or not, if he has then he's definitely ahead of him

Oh OK... Righto
Why would that be?
Is it because it's the opposite of what I just said.... Or it's some scoop you've known but kept to yourself until now?

I thought he’d had a couple of bench runs but I may be wrong. I’m sure others will know.
18 year old 5/8 Latu Fainu has not yet played NRL.
He was the star player when his Manly team won the Harold Matthews (u/17s) competition 2 seasons back and also had a couple of dominant games playing for Manly reserves (Blacktown Workers) NSW Cup team late last season.
He also played 5/8 for NSW u/19’s last season and has a very strong build for a young 5/8.
I believe he is ready and capable of playing NRL as of round 2 if selected.
His older brother Samuela Fainu is a big tall imposing second rower or prop who also played for NSW u/19’s last season and also played approximately 5 NRL games for Manly last season.

He also played a Test for Tonga (hence the suspension that will be served in one of the trials)

Agree to an extent. Some more strongly then others. I'm sure I've been guilty of it, but I do believe yourself and a couple of others are going too arrogant in shooting down any suggestion of Galvin starting. I find it odd when someone can go so strongly and talk as if something is fact when it's obviously not a fact. It's very simple to say "I'd be very surprised if he starts, I just can't see it happening". Rather then the arrogant tones that going on here. Cue Misty to get upset at me telling people how to post lol. She will be upset.

A misty muzzle could come from a cloudy glock...I get it
I agree. We are all entitled to an opinion but some people on here take it a step further and get too persona

So if any one of them is a standout in the trials, you don’t want them in the team simply because they are too young ?
100% yes. That is called player development. One trial, which is more like 40mins of game play against an opposition that is chopping and changing and not playing 100% means nothing. Let the kid develop his game. Hasnt played against men yet. Let him hone his skill, against men in cup. If he is as good as you think he will tear up in cup and force his way in.

I can assure you any player that is a standout in the trials will highly likely be named somewhere in the NRL top 17 come round 2, regardless of age, experience or reputation.
Hope not.
I don’t think Benji is the type of person the promise the squad something he won’t deliver on,
Then he isnt a good coach.

Thanks for the heads up V. I thought he had. Certainly got a strong junior resume.

Ok MT you are just another one to add to the list of people who post on here who believe the trials will count for nothing and the players who are clear stand outs will not be rewarded with NRL selection.
The first part about that is they will either not play in the trials or get very limited minutes in the trials if they have not been training extremely well.
Let’s wait and see how it pans out.

You missed my comment around trials are great for kids to impress & get on the radar…….

Last year we did that when Stef was captain then the game after we played our NRL players for the 1st half then started to rest them.

Kids get a crack & often get good minutes as well in trials.

I don’t think Benji is the type of person the promise the squad something he won’t deliver on,

It depends on who/how they’re a standout.

Would you have played Rua in round 1 after he was a clear standout in his 10mins of rush time?
