OFFICIAL SG Ball Cup

Growth will come along slowly in the south west area as we are competing with sports and very different cultural backgrounds in the Campbelltown catchment. Soccer has increased, Cricket numbers have increased, AFL is steady, union slow but steady.
The real big asset we have is our pathways program is absolutely brilliantly run but does need a infusion of cash to keep it at the forefront.

Balmain storm is a shocking Game, after 13 mins both sides with 4 handing errors each.
Like in matts the Balmain side is just so small, they can barely make 30m a set. The gulf in quality between the sides seems closer but this Balmain side looks very poorly coached. They have absolutely no idea what they're doing out there. Our halves terrible.
6-0 Storm aftera big run and offload from Suli puts them over the posts

Kanaan scores after a nice ball, but then the hooker delayed the pass after a good run off the kickoff, a forward pass to Kanaan, and storm score a very very soft try 2 hitups later. 12-4 after 22

We look small, unfit and poorly coached. You can't make 8 knock ons in 25.mins
It's not wet or anything, just careless players.
Storm are running on to every ball hard and fast, making great ground. Our boys catch the ball standing still and then try push through to make ground.
Tannous having a shocker. Lewandos is like a statue. And we've brought on the world's smallest lock, he's barely 50kgs surely

Realistically you'd say there's not a single first grade prospect in this sg Ball squad. Not one. Atrocious recruitment. Wests get all the attention and meanwhile Balmain will win the spoon in both grades. what a waste of having two junior rep sides in each grade

BB do you think Kanaan might have potential to play Jersey Flegg this season, maybe as a winger ? He seems a regular standout in a struggling side.
How did the young prop from Mackay go, I noticed he was only on the field for about 11 minutes ?

how is it Wests fault that Balmains juniors aren’t good enough? stop trying to turn this into another Wests vs Balmain argument

I think what BB is saying is that a lot of the better quality recruits are being assigned to the Wests Magpies teams lately.
It is not all of them as the young prop we just signed from Mackay is playing for Balmain, only played about 11 minutes today for some reason, hoping that’s not a sign he’s not fit enough to keep up at this stage. Also the young centre we signed from Keebra Park has played a couple of games for Balmain, I assume he was out injured today ? Also a young centre with surname Close come with a big reputation from Manly, he was also out I assume injured today.

Never said anything against Wests. They have good local juniors, that's good. My complaint is with management. We have two sides but they've focused all their attention and resources into one side. They've totally dropped the ball with Balmain and now we have the position where Balmain have the least competitive sides they've ever had.

The Queenslander is big but not very fit. Wouldn't have trained much with the boys either. Was solid.
The centre was injured, saw him in the crowd.
Apparently there are some recruits for Balmain but at both Matts and Ball level they're being ignored for inferior local boys.
It's all well and good to want to focus on local juniors but if they're not good enough you cut them and move on.

Barely 2-3 players within both Balmain squads who might have potential to play Flegg one day.
Kanaan, Haywood, Sovau and the winger/hooker from Matts.

Fair enough apologies for misunderstanding… maybe because the Macarthur region is booming more as opposed to the inner west? I don’t think it’s because of management as we seen last season Feledy & Conti were both playing for Balmain whilst being recruited from other teams.

Brimson Harrison is running the Balmain side of things these days.
It’s quite important that the junior rep sides are at least competitive, let’s hope they get things right for 2025.

He might. He's solid but unspectacular. Looks good in a very poor team. Played wing for the last 15 with Rauhihi moving to the back.
We let Michael Nassar and Conti go and haven't replaced either of them. Nassar was much better than Kanaan is, faster, more X factor. Tannous isn't even a quarter as good as Conti. From today's effort I doubt Marc Tannous plays more than 5-6 matches at flegg level

Yeah not sure if the current failure was him, more likely on Sirros watch

I find it strange that we haven’t combined the kids, teens and reserves into one focused Wests Tigers pathway. We’re diluting our talent pool with this Mags and Tigs direction across grades.

There was a big blonde second rower, a good sized blondish winger and a rugged looking forward with a mullet who all looked to have ability in their final trial against the Rabbitohs. Not sure if any of these players are getting much of a run for some reason, maybe your suspicions are correct.
