English Super League Potentials

For those that watch the ESL, and given Richo is over there at the moment, what ESL players would be worth bringing over?

Ash Handley, the winger from Leeds looks alright, but I've only seen highlights.

Anyone who watches more closely, what do we think?

I don’t really watch the UK Super League other than the highlights of games, but from what I do watch it doesn’t seem like the competition has much top end talent at the moment.
Innes Senior is one that fits the profile of a player that potentially make an impact in the NRL.

I'm really interested to see what Richo comes up with in the UK.

He's getting panned for going, but I am going to go out on a limb and say he wouldn't be fronting up in person unless some preliminary calls and emails were exchanged. You don't just fly to England on a whim hoping for results....some groundwork has definitely been laid.

The hide of people in the media & online saying that
he's on holidays... Blocker too - he's a pantomime.
Let Richo work. We're literally the only club in Sydney
that gets a nightly spot in 360. Absolute vultures lol

I'll cop the usual "we need to aim higher crap" with this suggestion but I would be signing Bayley Sironen. Obviously the priority is an edge backrower and outside back, but along with that we need a player that can come off the bench at 13 while also covering hooker, backrow and halves.

Bayley plays tough, and if Matamua can kick on at lock, Sironen could come on at hooker giving Api a rest then move to lock when Matamua goes off.

More of a "balance of the 17" type signing.

No a bad suggestion, his versatility would definitely add a bit of balance to our 17.

Yep I like this for his utility value. He can play backrow, lock, hooker, 5/8 & centre plus has the Sironen name.

I listened to a podcast Richo was on at the start of the year and he offered an interesting view on building a roster, talking a lot about the foot soldiers. The theory he had was the guys on not much money who you need to do a solid job each week. I reckon maybe that’s what he’s looking for in England. Guys who would rather be home in Aus but aren’t looking for a big pay check. When you think about it our elite players are being made to look poor year after year, I really think it’s those guys 10-20 in the roster who need to play at consistent FG level to help the prospective rep guys to shine.

Be interesting to see who he targets.

Guys like Bateman? Our problem has been that players are asking for a pain and suffering loading. However if Richo can find better examples than Bateman, it would make room in the cap to strengthen the spine, which is already underway. We have the 9,7,6(?),1(?). We are desperate for a 13, there’s no point in throwing good money at an average 13, he needs to be a game breaker like Luai and Api.
