Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

It only survives in the AFL because no player or club challenges it …any legal action would have the same result as the Hill case ..

It shows a key difference between the sports … the “whats best for me” in the NRL versus “good of the game “ in the AFL …

Not saying AFL is right and NRL wrong … their drugs policy is wrong in my view …
The other difference is that the NRL has competition from the English Super League and Union. AFL players have no alternative

And after all that fighting left the Magpies after 2 years to go the Manly!

This part is less difficult to believe
You have to remember, the Roosters were not always a strong club. They have spent more than their share of time in the bottom half of the table. It's just that we have recency bias - and so do the journos. The Panthers used to make up the numbers and rarely made the semis, The Sharks were also bottom feeders for a long time. A good reminder that all of this is cyclical. The Tiges will have their day in the sun again, but it won't be soon unless we get our act together as a club,

You are right, but I think we can expedite the process if we make the good decisions.

Brad wins 300% more games than Benji and turned the eels into a powerhouse for a long period through good signings and instilling some grunt.

I just think we need a lot of experience at this juncture.

Benji can leave for family reasons and come back another time. Throw him on the board to stop him losing face.

There is no shame in stepping back into an assistant role to learn his craft.. Problem is, I am sure Brad Arthur would expect to be a long term head coach appointment at his next club, not a benchwarmer for a rookie coach to take over in 2-3 years. What a shame we didn't get Wayne Bennet to come in to do another 2-3 year gig with a plan to hand over to Benj potentially at the end of that. Look at what he has done at the Dolphins in less than 2 seasons. Built a roster from bit parts, got them competitive in the first year, uncovered some rising stars, got the most out of some hardened veterans and recruited some star power for their second season. They were competitive in their first year, and probably will make the finals this year. What could have been, eh.

It simply shows what can be achieved if you know what you’re doing. And that’s called experience !

Well said, GNR could take a leaf.
We have Richo now and a new board, it will take time to filter through. Our juniors are going good l, flegg, sg ball, Harold Matthews are on the up. Our coach is the worry for me, I’d rather we’d signed Flanagan but Arthur will do. Bunji ti drop back to assistant.
