Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Yes
I think. We can do better in the coaching staff than Farah and we need to keep evolving & improving
No Brainer really
Not exactly better...

I just think Farah + Marshall + Morris all have gone under the same Sheens system.
Farah, unlike Marshall wants to be a manager of a business and I don't think is interested in the coaching option.

We just have to be less inbred. Sure bring Farah in for a session or two. As a club we need to spread wider.

Context: Robbie Farah is a club legend. He was a warrior for us and I miss having him in our team.

However. Robbie is not so much of a people person. That doesn’t make him a bad person. It does create an obvious talent gap for an aspiring coach.

I would prefer it stay out of specifics and I am sure plenty of others on here would have heard the examples.
Seems to me he’s been tarred with that brush over the Tallis, Potter can’t coach and the JT debacle when he was the reigning origin hooker, (that was just wrong).
Even so, I don’t see why he can’t then make a good assistant coach?

** I know plenty of our supporters object to Taylan May, but he has not been convicted of any crime and we desperately need a powerful metre eating outside back. The fact he’s just at home playing centre or wing is an added bonus.
** Oregon Kaufusi would add another big powerful prop, he has good mobility for his size and signing him would hopefully help entice Utoikamanu to stay.
** Jeral Skelton adds another big bodied powerful outside back and Billy Burns adds desperately needed size, mobility and depth to our edge back row.
Tylan May? Peter Pan is on TV this weekend...

Tumeth will be paid out.

I would like activate Sezer's option but if we can't offload Sullivan, Bateman or Naden then I would let him go if another club wants him or give him a coaching gig with us.

So ATM we have 1 spot which Papalii's.

Depending on Stef we may have 2.

Ideally for me we resign Stef & Sezer. Offload Sullivan & upgrade Makasini.

If we somehow managed to offload another my God I would throw the bank at Angus Crighton.

1. Bula
2. Turuva
3. Douiehi/Makasini*
4. Olam
5. Staines/Laulilii
6. Galvin
7. Luai
8. Utoiukamanu*
9. Korosaui
10. Klemmer
11. Sam Fainu
12. Angus Crighton*
13. Pole/Matamua
14. Mason/Da Silva/Latu Fainu
15. Twal
16. Seyfarth
17. Pole/Matamua

Still have To'a, Feledy & Lobb for backline depth.

Multiple forwards.

Also 3 development spots - Faataape, Porter for at least 2 of those.
^ I am removing Bateman and Sezer from the above. I think Sezer could be a reserve half and a good one at that (he has done better then expected IMHO). I suspect Bateman is off.

I dislike how many changes there are in our back line. Turuva is welcome, I think Laulili will claim a spot but I am hoping Staines can regain form, especially with Luai arriving.

this list assumes Crichton ... even then were still looking weak in front.

Please, you can't really be comparing the body types of the brick with ears and the fat kid.
Miller's a human pear.
Piggy Riddell was always carrying a bit of excess fat on him, Talakai also isn't exactly built athletically. Even Fred Rose used to go all right, Dean Widders, Olsen Philipana, the list goes on. Not all of those blokes are/were forwards either. I'd even suggest Lattrell Mitchell is carry a bit of extra baggage though he'd go even better (and not bludge on the blind side) if he dropped a few Ks.

Why does everyone think Robbie is a shite coach? Genuine question. I got know idea if he’d be good or not?
Or are we basing this from his perceived personality?
I’m prepared to follow the herd, I just need to know where it’s going first.
The grass is always greener on the other side?

I think Naden is now playing up to his original hype!
No brain explosions, defence now better than Olam's IMO. And reasonable speed.
Heath Mason stating that Naden has taken him under his wing and been a great mentor to him makes you wonder if his tenure at the club is worth persisting with, even if it’s in a capacity where he’s not in our top 17 when at full strength.

Every player you've listed there was a solid tank.
Miller is a sloppy mess.
They were all also fat fit f'ers.
Miller's gassed in the warm up.
I'm big on Herman being a future star and he's carrying extra weight, but he's solid and runs like a wrecking ball.

We are not in a position to be picky, we need any good standard NRL players we can get.
I know it would be nice if all our players went to church on Sundays, didn’t get arrested, didn’t drink or drive cars too fast, but beggars can’t be choosers.
The Panthers need to resolve the issue. It is not our issue and I don't believe we need to make it ours. Independent of this matter, parents put their trust in our club to guide sons and daughters. We are a club reliant on youth so the benchmark that has been set which has recently seen many good young players debut in the NRL needs to be maintained.
