If you look at most high price props today they will be rolling out over next 2-3yrs leaving Stefano and others as the next benefactors of a weak pool. Some are going to get some nice pay days regardless of if we think it’s deserving or not.

That being the case, the journos reporting St George and Canberra as leading contenders for his signature mustn’t have got that memo. Saints have improved but mid table club at best and are losing Lomax next year. Canberra are on the slide I reckon. Neither are winning a premiership anytime soon. Tigers have more upside to them than either of those teams. If he ends up at one of those, then it’s all about the money.

Very true, I'm no fan of these clauses just on the basis of just playing for us because you want to. I feel the same about finals bonuses or executive kpi's.
Why should anyone be paid more for doing what they've been contracted to do. We hire a player to perform the best he can for us we should not need to pay a bonus if he makes the finals. That is what we have contracted him to do in the first place.

It really misunderstands motivation ... A lot.
