Most of our juniors are too small to dominate NRL. We don't recruit athletic players, just good people who supposedly try hard.

None of the players listed have developed much this year. The lack of any attacking or defensives structure is an issue, the lack of a defensive coach who can improve our poor techniques is another issue. And there's the massive issue of our complete failure to have a system in place for our juniors. There is no common playing style. We have no plan for development, as individuals or as teams. Players change positions and teams on a near weekly basis, this helter-skelter approach is lightyears behind Penrith, Sharks, Broncos, Storm etc.

If we recruit juniors who don't have the necessary physical attributes to succeed, is it even worth persevering with them given the odds on them making it being very small??
While I agree recruiting and developing certain body shapes and physical attributes for certain positions is inportant, don’t forget a good aggressive smaller man will always beat a docile or lazy bigger man.
Ideally the players that are on the shorter or smaller side ineed to be very fit, have a good aerobic capacity, be very agile, able to hit too speed quickly and play aggressively in attack and defence.

If i am wrong let me know Faagatu, Herman, Kit L, Saukuru all need to spend the off-season training under Mark Carroll and Roger Fabri.

Sukkar’s needs to find a strength coach
Aren't some of these players on development contracts? If so shouldn't the club be organising this training as part of their development? I imagine the Panthers would have some kind of training for their players identified as elite.

Absolutely, it is possible, but it's much harder. For every Cotter that makes it as a nugget there are many Tumeths who don't have that elite level of compete and aggression to be able to take on a Haas, Tapine, Tino etc
A Pole, a small but athletic forward with good feet, is better than a Steve Trindall/Tuki Simpkins type walking giant.

For all who regularly watch our lower grades, who do we genuinely believe are a decent chance of progressing and becoming regular NRL players ?
Does Willett have the required pace to make it and does he defend well enough ?
Faagatu seems to dominate in Flegg and although smaller in stature for a modern day forward, he seems to hit top speed quickly, run the ball and tackle aggressively. Is his fitness/aerobic capacity a concern or can anyone see any other reason why he is not currently getting promoted to NSW Cup ?
Herman similarly seems to dominate at Flegg level, but struggle when playing NSW Cup. I have concerns over his fitness/aerobic capacity does anyone else have an opinion on him ?
What are our thoughts on Bailey Hodges and Caine Nicholas ? Both look to be similarly versatile in being able to play as a 13, 9 or even on an edge when required. I think there is a future for them both, but they probably need another season or two to continue developing?
Can Vaka Aho take the next step and put himself in contention for NRL ?
Are we convinced Jordan Miller is the real deal ? I love what he brings when we have the ball, but there has to be concerns as to whether or not he will get himself fit enough to cope defending for more than 5 or 10mins in the middle at NRL level.
What are our thoughts on the Laulilli boys ? I honestly don’t think they have what it takes to be regular NRL players, but I hope I’m wrong.
What about Saukuru and Sukkar, they are both big bodies who can do plenty of damage if and when they put their mind to it ? I have concerns about Saukuru’s fitness and aerobic capacity and have concerns about Sukkar’s willingness to run the ball and tackle hard enough to use his size to advantage. These areas of concern can be fixed for both players, but we need to see it and see it fast.
Can Heath Mason develop into the Connor Watson type utility that we would like him to become ? Hopefully Benji starts giving him more time on the field to find out.
Is Talyn developing as well as expected ? I can imagine it would be very hard in a NSW Cup team that is struggling so badly, but we need to see him get out of dummy half much more often and use a bit of deception in his game. Simply passing with the occasional scoot out of dummy half will not help him become the quality NRL player he has showed potential to become.
I have seen enough of Josh Feledy to believe he has genuine NRL potential, but I know many disagree. What are our thoughts on his chances of becoming regular good standard NRL player ?
What are the chances of Broederlow or Clarke becoming NRL players ?
This is my take on some of the juniors from what I've seen so far this year

Faagutu & Willett: Without a doubt and imo if they were regularly featured in our KOE team to gain experience, they'd be close to being ready for a debut this year.

Broederlow, Nicholas, Hodges, Aho, Herman, Clarke: Genuine Potential of being regular NRL players. They have all the tools they just have a few kinks they need to work on or develop before make the jump up

Kobie Wilson, Junior Wright, r, Tino Tavana: Dark Horses that could surprise everyone.

Agree on this. A few notes to add from my end ...

Willett - I feel fullback is going to be his best position although it seems we're trying to manufacture him into a winger due to his height.

Luke Laulilii - centre for me with his tackle-breaking, tackle-crunching efforts to the fore & he's good at setting up an outside man. Always a bit of a $$$ under the high ball all through his juniors.

Hodges - I think this lad has that touch of class & natural footy ability about him. He's my surprise packet & I reckon he can push Tallyn to be our next-up dummy half. A big watch!

Solo Saukuru - develop him into a backrower please.

Broederlow, Zak Clarke, Cayne Nicholas, Aho, Herman Tofaeono - I hope are all retained and continue to build reps in NSW Cup next year with some experience & a good spine around them.

Faagutu - hoping he's the one that the penny drops with over the next month & blitzes it next time in NSW Cup and earns an NRL debut off the bench in the final few rounds.

Makasini - possesses the frame, speed & ball skills (aerial too) to be damaging wing prospect.

When I was first taught to fight Poppy BF used to say “It doesn’t matter about the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog. But a good big man will always beat a good little man. It's just the way of the world”.

After watching Willett play FB in the 2nd half last week, he needs to stay there. He was so disruptive to the opposition defence and silky smooth hands in attack. What impressed me was his play selection. He knew when to pass and knew when to run leading to his try. His big frame also allows him to cover the field quicker

How's his defence? Could he play centre?
