CEO - Shane Richardson

Digging around in the Rugby League Project at looking at South Sydney Rabbitohs exactly 20 years ago. You can see a similar club to where we were at.
At the start of 2004 Shane Richardson commenced at the club in the CEO position credited for rebuilding the Panthers over the previous 2 years.
Over those two previous seasons, Souths came last.
(with 2002 being ranked as 14th due to the Bulldogs salary cap scandal).
The following year after Richo had a foot in the door for a season Souths avoided the wooden spoon coming 13th this time though still suffered the worst PD and Against in the comp.
The following year in 2006 despite the good news story of the privatisation deal of Crowe and Holmes a court Souths went back to their rightful place at the bottom of the lot ranked only 14th end of round 1 only to end up at 15th for the remaining rounds winning just 4 games.
However as 2006 was unfolding and transition of the change of ownership / management was taking place Souths managed to sign the biggest on field deal in their history signing up NZ international and Premiership winner Roy Asotasi.

We need a Roy Asotasi deal. Who would it be?
With both Spencer Leniu and Leo Thompson on low deals with their clubs could it / should it be one of them that gets offered the 800+k deal that Stefano has been considering?
Spencer Leniu didn't leave Penrith for a "low deal"....

Genuine question, how do third party agreements work? Some clubs seem to have a great network for these (Roosters, Broncos etc). Are they organised by management or primarily through the network of the club owners? Immediately after Souths were taken over, they suddenly attracted a lot more players.

They published these at one point and surprisingly they weren’t being used that extensively. The big clubs find other “ways”.

3rd party agreements are a huge joke, and only serve to amplify the differences between the winners and losers
Broncos,Roosters and Bunnies all benefit disproportionately...and despite that ,still struggle to knock off the well coached teams like Panthers and Storm when it comes to the pointy end of the season
Tigers have the quinella of deficits in both areas unfortunately

Harsh tigerland but I have to agree with you, so far he hasn't impressed me, all I can see that he's done is totally pissed of the playing group with his failed trip to the UK to flog off players, you do that stuff here through their managers
He didn’t name a player, media speculation.

I suspect the media guessed correctly with Naden & Bud though.

Gotta cut Richo some slack..inherited a total basket case in every area most specifically in coaching and player roster, and nobody wants to leave..and why wld they on the ridiculous contracts they are on??
Cant believe the mess his predecessors left behind
Doesnt have a lot of room to move, but is the best person available to get us there
Hes the only one on our "team"with a proven track record in anything,so gotta be patient,,I have faith. And unlike most others ..hes results focussed and has history of achieving them
Faith like I did with Flanno..but thats another story...and currently the core of our problems..and he'll work on that no doubt

The 3rd party cannot have anything to do with the club the manager has to register the 3rd party deal with the nrl and the nrl goes back to the club and asks if they have any affiliation with the company in question

They are quit strict on it a company that has a third party deal with a player isn’t aloud to purchase a corporate box to view the game the player is playing in

There are no rules. You can do anything.
Just don't get caught.

Richo is
MIA
delivers Lip service only so far
didn’t clean the place out , that was already done
no new Recruites - Luai was part done prior to his arrival
him arrivng alone didn’t t get Luai. $ 1.3 million most likely did it
scrapped AFB from our offer ? He would replace Stef essy
players going to other clubs every week but no mention on any for tigers
he is 100 %. In hiding since his free sign on trip to UK with his son I’m hearing , junket
what he should be doing today
call Stef and say stay away this week your not playing next round and get your contract sorted with an answer by Friday , if you can’t you play reserve grade until, you do
call Brad Arthur’s and ask for his assistance for next 18 months , his roll
attack coach , recruits from Parra ( Talagi , Campbell Gillard ) .
Find a hard edge prop now .
find a hard running back rower now
find a good centre now
don’t worry about the cap now just buy the players then tap the losers we want gone once complete recruitment drive , Gould style ,Bennet style .
trouble is we don’t know if he is or isn’t doing it as we can’t find him , again
MIA , sorry some One said he was at the blues team last week , well he should be at our team all week as we are last , get of the piss Richo and do your job

Yep I feel he is the strong administrator we need I just get frustrated at the lack of wins , no new signings , no visibility from him , I want to see him continue to come out revving our club up , I get no leaks and that is good but he didn’t do that , the clean out did it that took place , all I want is up our club we are all passionate about go well , sorry if I come across to negative

Can’t announce a signing if the squad is full. Hopefully they’re hard at work on that. There’s plenty of time before season 2025 though.

you are an optimist.. I’ll give you that …

It’s been beaten out of me unfortunately…

If there was another signing … announce it .. move on the dud player in the off season..

I agree with that as we need to get off the bottom , I know we have some good young guys but we can’t do 5 spoons until they are ready , he really needs to be buying solid players on 2 year deals with option for another , these kids will be crushed if fed to the big time to early , and I please dont get me wrong he could well have secured a couple but can’t release names before finals etc , I get that , we all may be shocked when they say , Holly shat tigers have secured xyz players what a coup with Luai and Turuva on top of 3 good players , fingers crossed

How does the club know if there is a third party sponsorship available if they're not allowed to get involved, does the potential sponsor notify the club they want to get on board, the player manager or register it through the n.r.l. How do they line it up

How it’s supposed to happen is the player manager is looking for new deals with clubs for their players, club offers x amount for the player, player manager rings around businesses, agencies etc within the area, internationally or globally really it doesn’t matter. (For instance if Nike want a player to feature in their new football boots promos and sign on a player that would be a 3rd Party deal providing there is no sponsorship connection to the club. That is ok. (Think Billy Slater on the Banana advertisements).
How it usually happens… manager looks to sign a player with a club, club says we’ll offer x amount but speak with x and see if he can help you out to make up the difference.
