Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

People blaming Richo are mental he’s inherited the most inexperienced coaching staff and roster of all time all on long term deals this is entirely previous managements doing

Mathew bettsy never gets a mention but he has been here the hole time I believe previous management gave him to much power he has done a fantastic job setting up the pathways but I believe he has been involved in the process of selecting players to receive top 30 contracts we have way to many kids on top 30 deals

People say contracts mean nothing well that’s complete nonsense if 1 side believes in the contract well then it sticks

Would be good to add an experienced assistant to help. I don’t think our problems are the coaching (though they may not be helping no doubt).

However, I do honestly believe we have one of the worst rosters in the comp and therefore we’re performing as we should.
This is what its all about. We have the worst roster in the comp. A list that does contain a handful of stars (or actual NRL players), but too much youth and over-the-hill plodders riding on the coattails of their careers 5-10 years ago.

Reality is WT's aren't a destination club for other established players....unless you pay overs. We now have the waiting game of developing our youth into first graders and determine if they are actually any better than every other clubs pathways. Do we have a competitive advantage here? Jury is out.

Really we should do better next year. If Richo can flick a bit of deadwood for something better, we may finish 10-14 IMO. Question is ''who might be worst than us next year''?

It kind of depends on what kind of trust you are talking about.

Imagine for a moment you are Bateman, Nado and Sully and you find out that Richo is spending a lot of time and resources trying to offload you.

And you have to conclude that Benji is up to his neck in it as well.

Trust would go out the window.

But from a fans and members viewpoint, as upsetting as it may be, you’d have to trust it is for the good of the club.

The problem with offloading players, is that you don’t quite know if your replacements are going to fare any better.

With Benji, the results aren’t really telling us he can do things with players. He can at times but not consistently.

I’d hope he can be successful, but I’d prefer to trust other coaches. Even Morris at this stage.
Morris is already there , if he isn’t giving advise to bail us out from the bottom already I don’t want him as head coach either

We are all hoping Richardson can build on the arrival of Luai and Turuva.

It will take awhile to elevate & broaden the talent base of the whole playing group.

The basic, not negotiable element should be fitness. We should aim to be as physically fit & prepared as possible to compete & stay in games.

This is an area we've been sorely lacking in for many years & something that can deliver some reasonably immediate improvements next season.

The better performed clubs all state it's work ethic (fitness, preparation) that underpins their success. It's high time the Tigers do the same.

Probably a dumb question but I don’t know the answer and interested in
forum opinions ?.
Would Richo/Benji be having any current communication with Luai about direction for next year ie, players to keep, players to chase etc, or is that just not the done thing ?
Or do they wait until November 1 ?

Madge tried to bring this element into the club and soft asses whinged and carried on. Sure Madge could have articulated his standards abit better, but our culture is just way too soft to compete in the NRL.

Over paid players with little competition for positions and a loser mentality. Maguire tried to implement change and by all reports didn't have the support of the senior players apart from Hastings. Now they are all gone and preaching about the standards at other clubs that they have had to adjust to and or in Nofas case dropped off all together. If they had given him the chance to work with Api we might be a step closer.

Coz, after all, it was Madge who brought API and Ice to the club !

And we’re still there. You are right Tom, my point was that he never got to work
with those players. Would it have made any difference, possibly not, we’ll never know.

Madge was here for years and the team got continually worse…

Took him three years but he took the team from 9th to last …
Actually, we were running 13th when Tim Sheens had MacGuire sacked.
Sheens then installed a caretaker who secured our first spoon, providing no assistance.
Sheens then took over with his apprentice Benji the following year and performed attrociously, getting sacked himself with us in last place. The apprentice took over and secured our second spoon in a row.
Benji has now entered the second year of his apprenticeship and has all but secured our third spoon in succession.

Meanwhile, Madge has won the Pacific Championships as the rank underdog and is a good shout to win this years SOO series.

Yes … agreed he was never given an opportunity to work with those two…

I’m in the camp that Madge was given enough time and didn’t deliver … whether it’s wrong or right and there were circumstances behind his control ..unfortunately I don’t think it matters ..ultimately the coach lives or dies by the results ..

I have not seen a team in any top pro level sport stick with a coach that produces worse results year on year over a three and a half year period,,, the pressure is on the management to make changes ..and even the dopes here at the time could work that out .,

Madge won 4 games only in that last season (2022) so let’s not pretend it was any great achievement…I think Kimmorely took over as the care taker if memory serves when they turned into the zombie team the rest of the season and just went through the motions

Glad you got what you wanted.
Getting rid of Madge has resulted in 3 spoons in a row with two of those sides vastly better than anything he had to work with….hooray!

looks to SOO Madge only has bash and barge up his sleeve, he will try and bash Queensland into oblivion Wednesday night.
Our pack simply does not have that in them
