LIVE GAME Round 20 vs. Rabbitohs

Live Game Discussion
I didn't read over this thread but I was at the game and I noticed...

A few players gave Luke Lualilii a spray on various occasions. He had a shocker and a few didn't hold back with telling him.

A lot went unpunished by the ref which really didn't help us...

Also, it was a Rabbitohs home game but there was a lot more booing for the home side than usual.

Another one we let slip. Super frustrasting to go down against a rather weak bunnies side when we had gained all the momentum at 28 to 24 up.

All we needed to do was hold the ball and we win comfortably. The worst part is when we leak 1 try you can nearly guarantee another 1 or 2 will be coming quickly.

It was good to see some of the young guys put on some quality. TDS especially has showed us what he can do and why he will be the next in line after Api. Galvin was involved in everything and Latu showed some promise late too. Sione Fainu for mine was really impressive. Still needs to be a bit more physical in defence...but his carries and PCM is excellent.

To those writing off Luke Laulili'i...the kid is 18. I will admit he had a shocker of a 2nd half that did cost us. But he showed enough in that first half with some strong carries, quick play the balls and that linebreak/try assist that he has something to work with in the future. In any other team he wouldn't be required in NRL at this point of his career and would be fine tuning his skills in KOE Cup. Give the kid time.

The senior players are not setting the standard and need to be held accountable. Bateman made 2 incredibly poor plays when we were getting on top. The error 10 metres out and the forcing an offload to Bula not long after. Time for him to drop down (hopefully Ice is back next week). Klemmer offers very little on the field and I am sure we won't take up his 2026 option so that means 1 more year of him. Sezer has also been disappointing the past month. His kicking game was his greatest asset early in the year....now we never see it.

Interested to see if we go with Latu or Sully at 7 next week. Hoping to see Latu get more minutes to see what he can do.

Quick turnaround and international travel, so would assume if Benji is thinking of changes from the Cup team, they might get withdrawn from the team today.

Agree.

I'm certainly not fighting off young Luke. I'm prepared to cop mistakes like that from kids who I know will learn from it. I think Luke will be a good centre rather than winger. Like we all seem to be agreeing on finally, is that it's the senior guys you can't forgive.

Wests Tigers halfback Aidan Sezer is facing a stint on the sidelines after being hit with a Grade 2 Dangerous Contact charge in Saturday's loss to the Rabbitohs.

The halfback was sent to the sin bin for the tackle on South Sydney fullback Jye Gray in the 68th minute and will sit out two games if he takes the early guilty plea. Sezer will miss three matches if he fights the charge and loses.
Wouldn’t shock me if he doesn’t make the team again this season.

  • Wow
Reactions: BZN
Klem and Bateman won’t get dropped however as a message I’d like to see them both demoted to the bench. My side next week:
Bula
Staines
AD
Olam
Alaimalo/Toa (depending on today’s game form)
Bud
Galvin
Uto
Api
Twal
Sam F
Seyfarth or Paps if fit
Pole

Latu
Sione F
Klem
Bateman

Being at the game , mate is it me or are there heaps of forward passes in games , some look like the dummy half throws the flat or forward a lot and I’m sure south’s pushed a few forward with no pull up from ref ?

I’m glad you and family had a nice day. Good roll up of over 16,000 provided some atmosphere. Central coast fans starved of games.
I know what you mean about refereeing and six agains but what can you do.
I stick by my earlier comments coz I’ve actually watched the game live then the highlights, believe me it doesn’t get any better.
I like my team winning and just can’t cop
so much positivity about losing, because of this and because of that. And Benjis “green shoots “comment made me laugh. We’re always “gunna” and don’t deliver.
Sorry but that’s just the way this old timer thinks.
Yes its simply not good enough
In general we can score great tries lately and we couldn't even do that first part of the season . However attention to detail and sense of urgency is missing in some of these "green shoots " .would prefer Naden or Junior Tupou in place of Luke Laalilii ..
I want Benji to pick the BEST POSSIBLE TEAM but I think he picks based on some future
Plan to pick the kids and turn them into winners in a year or so .
I refuse to wait that long .Fans want better results now. In Benjis mind players like Ice and Junior T are not part of the future so don't want them in the present ,
Seems Naden and Sullivan are not wanted either .
As bad as Laalilii was yesterday Lobb was far worse last week
Souths fullback made me angry as he wasn't hurt even slightly and it was pure acting to punish us with one in the bin .
Souths will call it gamesmanship but I call it CHEATING !
I watched Grey carefully even caught the smile on his face
Sezer needs to change his tackling technique however as you can't tackle from behind except arms around legs and don't use bottom half of your body at all .
To me Benji is not a good coach .He needs 2 years serving under a great one as assistant

He has to be played and developed as a centre, he does not have the physical attributes or characteristics to be a successful NRL winger or fullback.

A blessing for Latu, let the kid loose
Mistakes will happen but their enthusiasm is inspiring

He’s lucky. 5th offence this year, already sat a month out for a similar charge, I’ll take the 2 weeks.

Yeah it seemed we had more of the crowd. Good support up that way?
