OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

Only at the top end with Api and Jahream and a few others but lower down the roster the depth becomes very poor, some unplayable in FG.
That’s not a new thing…
Won’t go through the names, but there has been enough upgrades to the squad for the results to be better than they were - and better than they are!!

Excellent point you make about Benji being given a short cut to the coaching gig while demanding the players put the hard yards in. Hypocracy in motion.
It's not that so much,
I wonder would he have 'wanted to be a coach' so much if he was to give up his cushy fox job and start out in the lower grades earning his spot in the NRL....

I don't think so
- I don't think he'd have lined up for the gig if not signed for the top spot with almost immediate effect.

100 percent, that's another point to the hypocricy, Benji wouldn't but expects the players to sacrifice and do what's best for the team. If the time ever comes and Benji walking away for someone better to take over is in the best interests of the team, do you think he will, I seriously doubt it.

The last few rounds we have scored some nice tries, but gee the defence and the stupid errors are really killing us, just mind blowing how stupid we are.
Sorry about replying to my own post but didn't Benji say all along that we are concentrating on our defence and basic skills and that the attack will come later.

Looking at some of the tries we have scored recently it looks like we have moved on and decided to forget about the defence, basic skills and discipline, and as Lachie Galvin told Matty Johns last night, he loves playing for Benji because he lets us have fun.

Got a lot of mates in the game, he's been well looked after thus far (Parra sacking BA has helped that also)
This time next year, He'll certainly be in the thick of it....
We'll find out how much he wants it then.

He is trying and I hope he is successfully I think we all do, but atm just seems out of his depth. We went from defending with grit at the beginning of the season to now just trying to play touch football, I get we have kids in the squad but what are they being taught.

Yeah mate, it’s not a professional sporting club.
Just have some fun, win 1 in 5 games…you can go straight from school to first grade, not perform very well and be praised for your “effort”.

Not sure I can agree Benji is being a hypocrite? I'm not for a second suggesting I think he is a good coach, or the club made the right decision appointing him.
If Benji had never played first grade, not done a coaching apprenticeship and walked into the role of coach, then yes, I would agree it would be hypocritical of him to ask people to do the hard yards, but a quick search reveals he played 346 NRL games and 31 Tests for New Zealand. Regardless of how he played, he still went through the pre seasons etc under different coaches with different clubs. He knows what it takes to make it to the top. The biggest mistake and it's a crucial one, has been surrounding himself with inexperience in the coaches box. That needs to be rectified...........yesterday.

So Galvin is as fit and if not fitter than Dylan Edwards according to Api - you don't get that way by having fun.
Benji will have so long before he is axed if results don't improve just like every other coach. Depending if your a fan or a sympathiser you will support him, and if you are not keep questioning his lack of experience, motives , ego, connections, or whatever other conspiracy theory takes your fancy
It's no different to anything that the experienced Maguire copped when he failed here- even with his success outside this club - there are some who are still adamant he can't coach.

I’ve said this before … I think it’s unbelievable that an 18 yr old kid can come into an NRL club in his first offseason and be the fittest guy in the club… says a lot about either him or the rest of the team … hope it’s the former,,,

Hahaha you really do talk some bullshit.
Benji cannot be spoken about in the same sentence as Maguire when it comes to coaching.

Spoke to a souths supporter today who said that Galvin is one of the best young players he has seen. Keep him at any cost.
I totally agree with him. Talk about tds, some people on this forum have gds and bds.. Give it a rest.

Galvin has holes in his game- but at 18, that's to be expected. The fact he is competitive at this early stage of his career says a lot.

I'm not convinced his final career position is 6 or 7. But, again, too early to be certain. I believe a move to the 2nd row could produce a Wade Graham type of player. If you have to find a way to fit Luai & Latu Fainu into the team- this could be the way forward.

Regardless, at this stage, he's a super competitive young player that has some holes in his game being exposed while still offering quite a lot overall. Augers well for the future.

Especially the unforced errors, dropped balls, fumbles, stupid passes etc...… they lead to more turnover of possession, And More Defence, hence fatigue. Time out for a breather?

yes …he has a long way to go ..no doubt …

He is a scrawny string bean ..tall at least …so he should put on another 10kgs over the next couple of years …it won’t really affect his pace because he doesn’t have a lot to begin with …

Let’s see how his ball playing / attacking game develops if he is going to stay at 6 … over to you Benji to get the most out of this ….I am positive about how he will go with Luia next year …they should compliment each other … I think he has some rare potential… could be a once in a 10 yr player to come out of their Juniors if he can stay at 6 and gets bigger …Im thinking he has a higher ceiling than Wade Graham … .i dont think they should move him just to accomodate Latu if 6 is his position…

oh well you should have said earlier that some random Souths supporter said that. That changes everything!
I dont want to get rid of him you empty headed nonce, He is clearly an NRL level player at minimum.
I dont think he is suited to the halves at this level and that has been my only criticism all along despite what you idiots keep insinuating.

I think when Fainu came on , we saw more closer to what the actual plan is . Fainu was down one edge , Sezer was down the other , and Galvin was floating close to the ruck with Bula sweeping .
It looked affective and Fainu is really strong defensively . Whilst Galvin affects his tackles Fainu has an extremely strong tackling technique .
IMHO we lost that game , by really poor play out of yardage , and some absolute howlers , unfortunately by Lualiii ( he’s going to play origin one day IMHO. He’s a weapon ) .
I think our forward recruitment strategy has failed miserably . Players like Klemmer , Bateman and Papaliii have just not done what they came here to do . And Stef …. He looked amazing against a weaker pack … again .
I don’t understand where the AD hate is coming from ? I thought he went ok . Nothing egregious anyway .
