Batemans main problem right now is making silly mistakes
I think a move back home for the year will do him the world of good then we will see him back at his best with us

Perhaps the club hopes he enjoys it too much and doesn't want to come back.
Pretty poor decision, in my eyes.
If that is true kick us out of the comp.
We are not a serious club. Maybe we should just go into a social grade
Loan deal makes sense to me. Gives us 200k extra in the cap which we can front pay someone this yr and use next yr and our season is over so no problem for us. Also Bateman has previously spent a fair bit of off-season in UK mayby it gets him back earlier as he can see family now instead of post the test series at end of year.
Also he may be more likely to stay if that's what we and he wants if he is their to negotiate and impress in Super League.

Good.. I think he will improve when the kids around him start to hit their straps .. Bateman is world class still and if we want to compete with the best teams we need a hard head like him to stand up to the opposition

John Bateman has played his final NRL game for 2024 with the Wests Tigers set to send the English star back to the Super League on a short-term loan deal.
In a bizarre move, it is understood Bateman will leave immediately and finish this season with a Super League club, before returning to Australia to complete the remaining two years of his Tigers contract.
The timing of the move is particularly strange, given it comes as the last-placed Tigers desperately try to avoid a third straight wooden spoon.
It is understood Bateman told his Tigers teammates at training on Tuesday morning.
Hours later, the 30-year-old was a notable omission from the Tigers’ team to take on the Warriors this Friday, and won’t be on the flight to New Zealand.
Bateman joined the Tigers on a four-year deal last season in his second stint in the NRL. He played 32 matches for the Tigers, having played 34 for Canberra between 2019-20.

Agreed. Can’t knock his effort. He’s a guy who needs to play in a winning side. A lot of similarities to Brooksy in fact. Just needs to be a role player, not over playing.

This club just keeps on amazing me
we are looking at a 3 rd spoon and we are playing with a heap of kids in our team so we send one of our most experienced players back home to UK .
we have not been able to sign Stef to his upgrade and extension.
We let Papai go to panthers with Nothing in return.
we let Richo go to the UK to find players and remove players with zero result , could have been done on zoom .
this is all happening under Richo , and so far he is not going as good as many think , he has been poor so far

Loaning Bateman has to lead to a deal over in the UK.

I've defended a lot of things done by the club- this one is odd. Unless it comes with the ability to move full time.

Players like him think they can do whatever they like.
Maybe we could forfeit the game and save the cost of the flights. This seems to be the thinking over recent years. Yet we still can't see where our cap money is going. We must have a motza of the cap left to spend.
Richo has been much worse than poor.
Dunno mate. Honestly he doesn't offer much apart from silly penalties and a bit of niggle.
