What do you mean ? I had a debate at half time with king sirro about his value , because he was all over the place . That got way worse as the game went on , and we were closer to a victory than not ! That’s hardly a “I’m putting in but no one else is “ situation .The problem is we only have a small number snr players relative to our competition. If you are getting pummeled every week and you’re feeling you’re trying pretty hard, then I don’t blame batemans reaction if he was having a weak moment.
The quality of the squad is the problem so perhaps benji should be supporting the snr players rather than singling them out.
What ever experience we had is now out the door or completely demotivated.
Bateman won’t come back to play reserve grade , I think he may not be back at all and that’s on him so we pay nothing we don’t need to pay him to leave , he left so zero cost to usdifference between dogs and tigers is that dogs can cut the deadwood lose and signed better than average first graders.
Perhaps calling out Bateman and him walking out this season will work out in our favour…but chances are we will be paying big $$ for him to play in England next year. Or worse, ressies for us.
Agreed .. I’m a special kind of freaking out about having Starford Toa and Faatape in the centres this week ,, especially without Bateman there to babysit them in defenceNo he hasn't.
Whilst it's a nice story (his recovery), his defence on his return has shown very little improvement from what it always has been. He's made on average 11 tackles per game, missing around two per match. What this doesn't show, though, is both misreads on the edge and lack of effort plays, like cover tackles, chasing half/clean breaks, etc.
At 25 years of age, having played near on 100 NRL games, he should have improved immensely in this area, regardless of time off. In fact, he has had more time than most to reflect on the insufficiencies in his game and come up with a plan to improve. This includes communication and organising his edge, regardless of who is inside or outside of him. Far too often, he continues to take the easy option and look to blame everyone else when his edge falls apart.
He remains a strong ball runner who loves to go himself and is a threat near the line or in broken field play and I'm glad he's back in the rotation.
But until he gets fair dinkum about the other side of his game without the ball, he'll forever be stuck as a mediocre footballer. He's in the same boat as Starford To'a.
Yep. Get JL in the blower and tell him to meet up at the Tigers.Hopgood is one of the best locks in the game.
I always think about easy money - lots of it all the time. But its easy money..... think about it....
Well the 1st thing we will do is sack another 5-8 players , then that will mean me and benji can do a world trip flying 1st class , stay at the best hotels and drink great wines . As for the tigers I looked over the under 10s and they have some great talent there , so just sit back and wait till there ready, we should be back in tiger town just as there ready to play 1st grade , cheers all .With all due your respect Richo - what are the Tigers going to do with a war chest?
U forgot burton , and the little grub who players hooker , there both on $800,000 plusOf all the clubs, not sure how Dogs come under scrutiny for a 'sombrero'.
They would have the cheapest 1 and 7 (Sezer aside) in the game. A largely unheralded forward pack outside of Kikau which typically features 2 first year rookies every week. And there big money centre and wing is balanced by Xerri bought on the cheap after his drug ban and Kiraz who they got after he wasn't offered a contract at Knights.
There'd be a dozen clubs I'd question before the Dogs. Though I'd admit outside looking in perhaps they got away with some shenanigans with Jackson early retirement and Pangai walking away, however no evidence of any actual wrong doing.

No I didn't. Mahoney would be an average money hooker (reported as 650k) no more than the majority of starting hookers. Burton would likely be over 800k but still about standard for any teams dominant half.U forgot burton , and the little grub who players hooker , there both on $800,000 plus
Its mostly speculation all this anyway. I’m just disappointed it’s all gone to poop. I think he was one of the few that had a crack (over the season) and actually cared.Bateman won’t come back to play reserve grade , I think he may not be back at all and that’s on him so we pay nothing we don’t need to pay him to leave , he left so zero cost to us
I don't need to rewatch that game. I've watched more of Luke than just his handful of first grade games. He is not Hamiso-quick, but he has plenty of pace to play wherever in the backline he will end up fitting.Did u watch the raiders game , scored a good strong try but he had chances to fly down the wing but was rounded up very quickly, maybe u need to rewatch that game
I'm hoping they'll go ok.Agreed .. I’m a special kind of freaking out about having Starford Toa and Faatape in the centres this week ,, especially without Bateman there to babysit them in defence
I think the issue is that only a really, really dumb club would outright cheat the cap now in the sense of doing the type of thing the Storm did a decade or so back - two sets of books or similar. What will be far more prevalent is things like when players conveniently walk away from massive contracts "coincidentally" at exaclty the moment the club decides they're no longer providing value. Jackson and TPJ at the Dogs, Inglis at Souths, so many names it's almost laughable at the Roosters.Of all the clubs, not sure how Dogs come under scrutiny for a 'sombrero'.

Luai only came because of Benji, that will work wellBateman was roumered to have said that Benji treats the Senior players like Juniors and the Junior players like Seniors...
I don't know if this is true, but it is far past the time Richo gets an exit strategy for Benji. I am hoping that Benji can be moved to coach New Zealand for a few years... I really REALLY hope we are not going to try Benji with Luai and the rest next year. We don't need 6-9 months of coming 17th for another year to see this isn't working.
You don't hear Api saying anything like that. I suspect it's only the senior players who have shit games.Bateman was roumered to have said that Benji treats the Senior players like Juniors and the Junior players like Seniors...
He is an arm grabber. His defensive effort(or lack of) vs Cronulla was pathetic. He struggled to get a hand on Mulitalo or Iro.How can you say Douehi has been abysmal. The guys come back after a year and a half off and done pretty well considering
