Sone very impressive highlights and a great win on the road.
Is young Willett starting to come of age, impressive finishing for his two tries.
I’m in two minds regarding the future of Josh Feledy as his lack of height/size and not yet proving to be a great defender are certainly issues he needs to overcome, but he’s just a natural footballer who knows how to run good lines, bust tackles and score tries. I remember him being likened to a young Jamie Lyon when he was younger and I think he will develop into a quality player within the next couple of years. The issue for our Wests Tigers NRL team is we already have too many similarly short and undersized backs. Not his fault the kid can play.
What a try from Tim Johanssen. This youngster continues to impress and definitely has that will to win about him. Hoping we retain and develop him, he’s one who could potentially make the necessary improvement to become genuine NRL quality.
I know I’m flogging a dead horse with Nadi, but I do commend him on always giving his best for our NSW Cup Team and it’s just a shame as he no doubt has plenty of talent, but needs a Wayne Bennett type of coach to get him in the right mindset to produce it at NRL level. Very similar story with Jayden Sullivan.
Can't argue with anything you said. Great to see Willett use his height for a nice try and to finish off another nicely too. His areas to really improve will be learning how to use his frame coming out of yardage and defensive decision making.
I would have Feledy on a contract over Faataape any day. The guy knows how to score. However, as you said, his defence is currently woeful and needs a lot of work.

It wouldn’t matter if it was Willett, Staines, Laulilli or Naden, they all don’t have the physique and physical traits to do the bullocking work required out of our danger zone. A Junior Tupou style of player is required on one wing and the club has dropped the ball by not ensuring we have more than one of this type of player.
We also need centres to do this as our fullback also doesn’t have the physique and physical traits to help with the bullocking work.
Is Willett going to fill out or another weed?

11 of the players were under 21, 4 of them under 19.
Despite a seaon with plenty of poor results the scenes from their dressing room celebration showed plenty of unity, plenty of passion and smiles all round even from the dumped NRL players such as Naden & Sullivan.
One win doesn’t solve too many problems, but for such a young playing group the confidence they should take from that win is priceless.

Josh Feledy has been in our system at least 2 seasons know why has defence/tackling not improved??

Johanson is like a number of forwards needs to hit the weights room come seasons end.
Bcoz he’s been training in the Wests Tigers system.
We don’t do D.
At the moment we don’t do much A either.

If would not be a hard fix to get Feledy’s defence up to scratch as his contact is decent and he is a smart switched on young player.
His main issue is being a fraction late in reading and shutting down the play when his side is caught short of numbers.
To fix this he simply needs to read the danger quicker and either learn to shut it down quicker before it becomes a problem or more importantly use his voice to ensure his side is not caught short of numbers very often.
If we don’t fix it here, he will end up at another club who does fix it and see him become a very good NRL player.
Do we bite the bullet and replace Chris Faagatu or someone else in our top 30 for 2025 with Tim Johanssen ?
Faagatu is probably the most aggressive forward we have in our entire roster, so letting him go is not ideal, but he’s managed by Isaac Moses who absolutely hates us as a club, so what are the chances of him being here in 2026 and beyond in any case ?
I would imagine Johanssen regularly standing out in a struggling team and getting more impressive as the season progresses is turning plenty of heads, so we need to lock him down.

I didn't see the game but Feledy's last NRL appearance he defended really well.

Have you seen Latu’s highlights package from a couple of seasons back when he won the Harold Matts comp with Manly ?
The combination he had with Feledy was like watching Cliff Lyons and Steve Menzies running rampant many years back.

Yea, my son showed me that well before Latu was on the radar. I think from memory he showed because he wanted me to see this kid dominate Matt's a year young.

If Olam is not back next week I would play Feledy.

Johanssen should get a run off the bench. Stefano can be load managed
We are too small without Stefano, if he goes and we don’t replace him with someone of a similar size we will take 10 steps backwards.
I agree Johanssen deserves a go, I would try Pole on the right edge to create a bench spot for Johanssen, although lack of having a back rower who can capably play in the centres if injuries occur is another big issue.
An NRL forward pack of;
13. Papali’i
12.Pole
11.Sam Fainu
10.Twal
9.Korisau
8.Utoikamanu

14.Da Silva
15.Seyfarth
16.Johanssen
17.Sione Fainu

Should be good enough to get the job done against the Cowboys at Leichhardt providing we can also put a decent backline together.

Would play Johanssen over Porter any day of the week. Would also promote Chris Faagatu over Seyfarth because no other player could as many dumb things in a game like Seyfarth constantly and not understand it hurst the team.
Seyfarth is versatile enough to play prop, lock or edge, which makes him valuable off the bench.
Players such as Faagatu, Laulilli and Matamua show nothing to suggest they have the stamina or lateral movement required to play on an edge, so very different type of players.

Vicious you wrote that Feledy: His main issue is being a fraction late in reading and shutting down the play when his side is caught short of numbers. Take a look at TDS style of tackling it is near perfect and how good it will be next year with a extra 5kgs of muscle added to his frame.

Feledy problem is one of two things either does not understand or the coaching staff are not helping correct his problem. Feledy has potential but he needs to understand what it takes to be a firstgrade player, having seen how we train would more likely it is a combination of player and clubs lack of skills development.

Fully agree but how many coaches would put up with his dumb mistakes week in and week out.

Faagatu has the potential and the problems been shown in the lower grades is not his doing, that lies in the coaching structure and system.
