The enormity of '25 - crucial.

I just finished watching the 2nd half which I missed last night... A few things on the game later.

A lot of us are seeing a lot of positive things with our young guys coming thru... A bit of smart recruiting is urgently required... Probably a couple either centers or wing/center... A prop or two and a back rower... I know it's been discussed a million times here in the previous weeks.
My worry is without any signs of improvement in the last few games and next year our young guys will get sick of the same ol same ol and will jump at any chance for a better option (again been discussed here ad nauseam)
But I saw improvement last night... They were in the game with 5 minutes to go Probaly more on the scoreboard than on the field but it's a fact - 12 behind with less than 5 minutes no team can afford to relax.
They really had a dig and the effort was terrific but as always the final finishing touch is what's missing... I really think a better more experienced qualified coach can rectify this... I could imagine jobless NRL coaches at home watching us last night and thinking of how much talent there is here for them to work with.
Attack coach Farah
gone... Morris in defense isn't the answer..Heighno looks just lost most of the time.
This is the crucial most important recruiting I feel we need.
Let benji assist the head coach... Call em Co - Coaches if Benjis ego feels threatened.
A Huge overhaul of the coaching staff is reqd.
Reading parts of the live game thread before I saw the 2nd half... I wasn't expecting what I saw.
We are very very harsh here with emotions running high while the game is live.
I was reading what seemed to be a 3/10 effort when. I actually saw about a 7.5/10 tonite

Just on Benji I know he found himself in this position somewhat not of his own doing... Head coach earlier then expected. He and the other clowns who devised this lunacy have a lot to answer for.
Benji put his hand up initially with no experience (again discussed here to the nth degree) but I'm finding it now quite selfish of him especially when HE had the opportunity earlier to bring on Justin Holbrook to help him yet he said no. This is his ego putting himself before the betterment of the team. It really isn't fair on the players and fans/members.
Justin Holbrook 7 years head coach exp in NRL & ESL. Three years assisting Robbo at the chooks making prelim finals twice. He'd surely have a lot to offer certainly much more than Benjis getting now.
*I was quite proud of the effort last night... *The ref was pretty shithouse both ways.
*Coaching roster desperately needs an overhaul.

I turned it off before halftime in disgust … first time I have done that in a while ..

They make so many simple dumb mistakes ..even a player like Api who was playing Origin last year ..
They are also dominated physically both sides of the play the ball …losing this battle is a crucial factor week after week …

They seem to start games so passively… they need to put so much more effort into starting well… otherwise it’s heads down and here we go again …

The way things stand … 2025 won’t be better if they don’t sign some new players … Luia needs some more help

It's pretty easy to watch TV & assume that our coaches don't know what they are doing.

Some change doesn't hurt. But "Heighno looks just lost most of the time." is just conjecture. He's been a runner for the Sharks under Morris- I'm going to assume they are on the same wavelength.

The injection of new coaches should be as an assist in the overall view of the club. Want to be a development club? Go find coaches known for developing juniors.

When we say Benji as coach is the major problem and I don’t disagree, but what particular areas do we believe he is not getting right ?
Remember back to earlier in the season when nearly all of us could not understand how poor our attack was considering we had a coach in Benji who was such an attacking genius in his playing days.
Well I think we would all agree our attack has improved significantly as the season has progressed, so Benji must get a bit of credit for that, but in doing this our defence has turned for the worse and is now verging on attrocious.
Common sense says much of this is because we are now throwing the ball around, taking more risks and when turning the ball over in our own half we often don’t have the resilience to overcome it.
Much like most coaches Benji generally says all the right things and states the obvious as to why we are not winning, so it’s not as if he doesn’t know what our problems are.
From the outside looking in I am a little bit perplexed as to why he doesn’t at least try to select teams that are better balanced and I’m not confident he has the personality to get the best out of each individual like Bennett and Bellamy have mastered.
Given it is highly unlikely the club will sack Benji, we desperately need Assistant Ciaches who are very good with their man management to take on the role of making our players believe, getting the best out of them while also focusing on and improving their weaknesses.

Our attack is shit,
Our defence sucks,
Our kicking is weak,
Our kick chase is pathetic,
Our discipline is very poor,
Our tactics are boring,
Our squad management is baffling,
Our preparation seems poor,
Our leadership non existent,
Our skills are mediocre
…..should I go on?

Not every one of those points can be corrected by a coach or coaching staff.
Some of them require better players on the playing roster.

They all come under the banners of the Head Coach.
Absolutely they can all be improved.

It's a very young and inexperienced team. Even this same lot will be measurably better next year. The Fainu brothers have basically nil experience in the scheme of things but there's something there. With the two Panthers coming in there's a significant improvement in two positions. Give us Bradman Best and Payne Haas and we could rule the world!

I think most logically thinking members here would agree it's long. ong odds benji will be tapped on the shoulder anytime soon.

That being the case surely Benji & Richo would see Marshall needs help.

Do what's best for the club players fan's and members boys... And. Benji too... Yiu know its the right thing-

He's got until the end of 25 ....no noticeable improvement ....see ya Benj

This is pretty well written and hits most of what is wrong and needs to be done , nice job

We've run out of patience by now.

We NEED to a season in the top 8. And we may demand for that in 25, and threaten to walk away (which tbh I think I will) but the reality of it is we need at least another year to recruit for players to help Luai.

Can't see Luai helping on his own. Need to add another 3-4 quality players, which won't happen till 2026 at best.

Our games are literally boys v men, very talented boys but at the end of the day we have too many learning how to be first graders at once. I don’t question their effort, but they’re trying to score off every set, making too many mistakes & just don’t have the resilience to defend them yet. I’m sure we’ll click some time before the end of the season & put a score on a team but all the stars will need to align. One things for sure, Benji needs experience around him.
