Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

What angst I’m just telling it how it is, not through rose coloured glasses.
Show me ONE of your posts from 2-5 years ago - when Justin and Lee were flushing the joint down the shitter that was so urgent and critical....

FMD - let the club get back to equilibirum with a professional front office after 12+ years of mismanagement!

The roster is great, our fans could not be happier.
Are you on the same planet as everyone else ?
The NEW MANAGEMENT HAVE SIGNED LUAI - TURUVA in the past 9 months....

But you expect overnight miracles - like a toddler....

You cant sign players who don't want to come and who have options !!!. The salary cap allows managers to get deals at the best clubs for their best players and forces our club to pay overs and or spend cap money on lesser players/upgrade potential, to satisfy the rules. Just cause the names have changed in management the perception of the club remains and another wooden spoon is not going to attract much better than Luai and Turuva at this point who signed on before the outcome of this season. There is no quick fix.

I like the way you've invented a story to maintain the myth that players won't sign for us even though there is clear evidence that they will. As if Luai was happy to go to a club that had picked up the spoon twice running but would absolutely have drawn the line at a threepeat.

My take is that the signing “ suggestions “ should be moved to a stand alone thread ( which I could then ignore ) …and this thread then discuss players that rumoured or otherwise are actually being connected to the club..

Otherwise it’s just pie in the sky BS … just sayin
This is generally the hodge podge thread where all grievances are aired and rarely you get an insider pop in with some of their mail.

Didnt invent anything there is more clear evidence of players not wanting to come - or stay - than players lining up to join. Luai fits into paying a player a truck load of money to come - which I noted is what we are forced to do - and while he is a great addition until the results improve on the field that won't change.

Off-contract end of 25.
This list below is where it all starts.

Adam Doueihi, Chris Faagutu, Josh Feledy, Justin Matamua, Brent Naden, Fonua Pole, Alex Seyfarth, Aidan Sezer, Charlie Staines, Brandon Tumeth

Talk of Tumeth, Naden to start with not in our plans.

Each one of these players would already have been assessed as to whether an extension is warranted.

If Richo and Benji have advised that there will be no contract from WT following on from your last contract year so feel free to look around for a club that will offer you one.

As we are desperate for roster spots and Richo has publically claimed in his War Chest interview that they will make squad room for season 25 I have no doubt anyone (unwanted) in the list above would have the option to move on from Nov1 this year.

Players tend to go where they're offered the most money. I've argued countless times on here that this is why building a roster through free agency isn't the way to create sustainable success, because top tier free agents almost always end up being overpaid. But that's the same for any club: if you sign big name star players at their peak, it'll cost you top dollar. The 'trick' is being able to pick specific places where one or two free agents will help, not needing to sign half a dozen of them every year to make yourself competitive.

Our strike rate cant be very good, but we do manage to sign a Luai and Taruva each year. Our bigger problem is what we do when they get here. I’d like to know why Benji is on the phone every second day with Luai?

I believe we've done well to get two excellent players from a leading club.
