Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Yes. It’s disappointing he couldn’t strike early, but I’d think a ceo needs a good year on the role barring any issues.

As the season draws to a close, we can look forward to a shake up of the footy department except Benji.

If we have keep Benji, let’s get him some proper help because I think we have underperformed.

I’d like to think JL will keep us honest out in the middle.

But he did strike early. He did get probably the best 2 players available in their position at the time as well.

He nabbed Luai and Turuva within 2-3mths.
He has moved Bateman to UK.
Olam is getting surgery - Storm couldn’t get him to have
Naden/Bud/Tumeth etc are playing reggies is a clear shuffle play to free spots up.

He kept AD for 1yr budget deal & stopped all the Galvin talk.

He did pull the pin on AFB (which I think was silly) and made the dumb statement that Stefano was our Payne Haas (which he was never going to be) & also that he was a priority signing.

When you have 800k+ incentives tied in negotiations it limits the additional moves you make with limited roster spots. The market has up until recently been bare also.

Now he has cash, an additional roster spot or 2 with the market turning around - so his output over the next 3-6mths (nov window for 26 when we have a heap of roster spots/cash) is going to be a good indicator as to who we retain and new blood we bring in - but how players view Benji/Richo as the future.

Best post ive read for a while.

I’d call Luai striking early and doubt he would have signed if the club didn’t take the actions it did.
Let’s be calm about this!

Luai was being engineered by the club long before we became a twinkle in Richos eye.

A lot of old guard people were involved,

As @AmericanHistoryX knows, I’m all for revisionist thinking and praising Richo, but he parachuted into the JL situation.

He had little to do with JL.

The club sacked Pascoe mid December. A month after pre-season started. He’s had very limited opportunity to do anything yet given we don’t even have many spots free in our top 30. Any pile on is just ridiculously premature.
Unfortunately there was two parts to my reply
The first part highlighted the previous 5- 8 years under the previous admin and then the next 12 months. It was meant to be support for Benji/richo not a slight

At least we can say our team has been consistent, in 2022 won 4 then in 2023 won 4 again,
And 2024 has won 4 again, and they have South's Manly the bye. then Parramatta in the last round.

So we still have the chance of maybe breaking our 3 year record of 4, 4, 4, who knows,
We definitely have spoon N0 3.

I might be in the minority but Api seems to be regressing a lot this year compared to last year. I can understand everyone defending him because he's our best player and deserves praise for his commitment, but at times he overplays his hand way too much. It's getting frustrating, adding on to the other stupid defensive decisions made weekly. Da Silva can handle first grade. I'd go Koroisau at 7 in attack with sezer out and then defending in the middle (not on an edge), with da silva at 9. Of couse the issue with this is lack of kicking strengths with galvin and koroisau, but latu fainu might not be back this week, and sullivan is apparently far from selection

Api shouldn't be playing 80 each week. This would help his impact if we reduced his minutes and fatigue. Should be given a stint on the bench for 10 to 15 minutes either side of half time. As you said, Da Silva is capable of handling NRL and this could give Api a breather.

He’s clearly frustrated at losing all the time and has zero confidence in his teammates. He has definitely regressed as a result of this.

He’s also playing too many minutes and he’s struggling in defence.

Should be playing 50-60 minutes per game.

Agree. I think at times he can miss too many tackles and make really poor defensive decisions. I don't blame him. Which is why the club should step in and help him out reducing his workload and minutes on the field. Da Silva is a great apprentice

Api is not a 7. Less minutes would help.

Api has been carrying this bunch since he got here, hopefully he doesn't feel as pressured and burdened once Jerome arrives, he just looks like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders.
I wouldn’t be surprised if his 2 years with us has shortened his career.
I.e. he plays a year longer if he stays with Penrith or goes to a good club.
Hopefully he can help Luai next year but I suspect some damage has been done to his psyche, his ego and his body.
