OFFICIAL Jeral Skelton #294

I see Luke L and Skelton as our starting wingers next year, Staines etc offer next to nothing while Luke L has shown he is a yardage eater and has plenty of potential for someone so young.
Well I hope over the next 6-9 months Luke learns how to hold unto the ball , and hope he adds 5 yards to his pace he looks very average

Now that it's official I'm really excited by this signing. His yardage alone will be a big improvement over what we currently have and the fact most Dogs fans seem unhappy with him leaving is a great sign. Sounds like it was at a good price too plus it's only 2 years so we're not locked in long term like we usually are if it doesn't work out. Great bit of business from Richo.

The thing about Luke L is he has pure athletic capacity that you cannot coach; it's just there. The question is whether he can be coached to improve his handling and overall positioning, rather than be a raw athletic talent.

But at least the athletic capacity is there, and it's a kind of nuggety explosive speed and power that we don't commonly have in our players.

Major negative for me is most wingers are trending towards solid and tall rather than short and explosive, so he'd have to be a Panthers-type exception to teh modern winger's build.

From what I have seen ..he has potential sure … I still think he does need a year or two in the reserves though before they can consider giving him a fulltime gig in the NRL…

im also hoping he can grow a few more inches in height …at only just turned 18 let’s hope he has a growth spurt to come ,,I think he will need to

I expect him to come back next year pretty damm strong. He's so powerful for his age and size now, so imagine in another year or 2. I'd like to see him have a go at centre. I could see an Isaac Tago type player there but more powerful.

Here’s where I think so many Tigers fans get it wrong. Not totally wrong but party wrong.

Next time you watch the Tigers pause the game on the 3rd or the 4th when the opposition is on attack. Count our defenders on each side and count their attackers.

I feel that you will see that perhaps half our centre issues and half our winger jamming issues literally come from our defensive line getting stripped for players on one side.

I have opinions on why it happens but it’s not the point I wannnna make. Ask your side why centres looks so bad defensively when they put on our jersey.
Can you please go into it, I'd like to understand

Well he's a walk up starter in our nrl side so he won't be playing cup.

I actually have major concerns this year with how Bula is communicating which I feel is a major contributor to our defensive issues.

He should be directing the defensive line & like you have pointed out - the amount of times we aren’t short on numbers but positioning of our players infield is very wrong.

When he chases a bomb in attack it’s often him alone no one around him but Galvin/Sezar aren’t interacting with him.

When he switches to the left or right edges he often doesn’t get the ball which again indicates communication isn’t happening

Also what worries me this year is the amount of times he has defensively contested bombs with our own wingers is extremely high for a fullback & has led to errors.
