OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

That’s the current plan, however, he’s not coming to an origin like team and after a few games Benji may need to find a way to give him more space and time? I’m very much looking forward to seeing how Luai changes the team dynamics. Our pack currently don’t look after our 7 like the Panthers pack does, and Luai will demand that.

The last 7s we had commanding and leading the team were Prince and Lui. As far as im concerned we've lacked little generals with the balls to direct the play and give players a kick up the ass that need it.

How would you rate Benji's play as a first receiver? Considering that he played plenty of games with us either wearing 7 or switching to first receiver during a game while wearing 6?

I guess Stefano would be fairly long odds at the moment even though he wanted to be a leader and captain one day. 🤣
He’s lucky to be in first grade and that’s not cause he is leaving it’s his form , it’s rubbish , looks like he doesn’t want to be out there , These are the small mistakes Benji needs to clean up , put in or get off the field , his last 3 to 4 games have been very poor , he is better than he is giving

That's why I am glad he's going, and why I'd like to see someone else in the team.

I think ApI and Luai will share the captains roll going forward .
Luai will def run the team .leaving API to do his thing .
Api and TDS to share the 9 with API doing 25/30 then bring the young guy in.
Galvin to go up another notch with Luai beside him ,

Luai , Turuva , Skelton , ? , ? , ? 3 to be added will bring us up around 8 th 9 th next season but those other 3 need to be pretty tidy , 2 props and a Back rower min who all work hard and hit hard

I thought Benji was always better as a 6. I saw him as a ball runner, taking the line on, play what he see's and creating space for those outside him..

I personally don't think he was a great general, barking orders at the team, directing everyone where they need to be. I also didn't think he had the kicking game required for a #7.

That's not putting Marshall down, I just don't think he was suited to the position.

People often think the roles of 6 & 7 are similar. But in my opinion, they perform 2 very different roles.

This is great for us.
Luai gets to test himself, taking the Panthers deep into the semi final's as a #7.
If they don't win the premiership with him at #7, that will only make him more hungry to make his mark as a #7 at the tigers.
It has worked really well for us eh. When we signed him there was question marks over his ability to lead the team. As things have panned out he has had to do that at the Panthers this year pretty much and origin. Great way for him to learn to play the position behind the Panthers pack. Comes to concord next year already experienced in what needs to be done.

Not going to matter. Last I saw Cleary (unless it’s changed since) was out until finals. No further damage to Clearys shoulder than what he has already been carrying.

Clearly not as good as Cleary. Cant do 2 point field goals for a start. And Penrith cannot win the comp without him. That's where Luai stands.
I was thinking last night it was disappointing luai didn't step up for the final field goal kick. Even if he didn't get it, just trying to attempt it, being left-footed after kicking for touch on the right. If he's on a million that's his job. Left it to edwards who also shanked a kick vs warriors earlier in the year. I still don't think he can clutch plays yet

He did in SOO. His drop outs were precision. Yes. RG. Would of been nice if he stepped up.
He's slowly developing. Just think that if a guy like sean o'sullivan can nail a 2 point field goal, why can't he? He's still not in main character syndrome. Even though he says he wants to be, his actions are not fully complete

Fair comment, I thought much the same. possibly one of the reasons he was better suited to 6?
What I absolutely loved about his game towards the end of his career, was this attacking kick to the corner. He had developed the skill to make the ball take a turn to advantage the winger as it bounced. Don’t know if it worked for him left side but right side it was awesome.
