OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

The NRL DT podcast was saying we will struggle to keep him. This would be an absolute dagger to the heart of tigers fans. I know we have Latu but we cannot lose Lachy.
I think we should get used to the idea of him going, because it’s looking that way atm.
Possibly the only way we keep him is to become more professional in everything we do. That, and get some results.
Brooks is still the same player, he plays the same way he did with us, but he’s getting results because of superior coaching and supportive play. He has inside runners actually running hard looking like they’re getting the ball. When Brooks did the same play here all players stood flat footed.
Galvin is now understanding why Brooks wanted out. Why many of our players look like they want out. It’s not that we will never play in another GF, it’s because of the stuff we do to make that a reality.

A very exaggerated example of what Galvin's been dealing with all season @Tucker
Why are all those blokes hanging back like that?
It’s not laziness. It looks more like confusion and surprise to me. Look at Sezer racing his arse off to provide a runner or chaser on the inside….

Yeah it’s a cultural thing at clubs where they put in the extra 1%ers to be running a support line - you might not get the ball but at least you are there. Our players over the last few years have not put in that extra bit of effort. Hopefully Laui can drive that culture change but it may be too late for us to retain Galvin. I imagine come 1 November the offers will come flooding in

I think once he has a year outside Luai and can see improvements in the team's performances it will be easier for the club to get him to commit. His manager is a snake but will take the big dollars if the club offers them.

I think you're dead set Dreaming....
The rest of the Squad is Dogsh*t and Luai isn't improving that...
We're 4 Signings away from being competitive.

Galvin is a Franchise Player, And we've already bought ours - for 5 years....

As painful as it is, in reality - We may as well let him go now.
Weather it's now,
Or in 12 months when he signs elsewhere makes no difference to our 25 (And probably 26)

Yeah it’s BS. Every time I hear that I know again how the cap is broken.
It should be a struggle for a club to poach another clubs junior not a struggle for a club to keep its juniors.

While I tend to agree, based on the info we been given regarding his parents asking for a release , him having a dummy spit, etc. Let’s not get brainwashed by these media mastheads idiots who at the moment are just making shite up for some ratings. For a lot of people, if you say it enough times it becomes true.
These Idiots should not even be allowed to say shite like that until after November in the final year. It’s destabilising to any club especially ours.
A smart club would be secretly planning for the worst outcome with his contract, while also identifying that the best juniors will want to win games or leave to win more games regardless of dollars.

It should be a struggle for a club to poach another clubs junior not a struggle for a club to keep its juniors.

There should be some arrangement that up to age 25 or so … the club that developed the junior should be able to match the other clubs offer…and if they do so then he remains with the original club..

The problem now is that the original club can offer more money ..but the player can still choose to go to the other club…. It’s an unfair advantage for those clubs

Then you will have other clubs throwing $$$ at juniors just so their club has to pay over and mess with your cap. There needs to be positive enforcement.

The NRL needs to introduce a $250K incentive to clubs salary caps that have developed each local junior and a transfer of $100k to clubs signing them from clubs that have invested resources in their development through SG, Matts and Ball to KOE and FG . Could be a sliding scale for years or grades ($50K per grade gets the $250K)

That can see Penrith and the Tigers rewarded for the development and may allow us to offer more to keep them without it being on the cap or benefit financially for the development with money added to our spending.

Yeh right, that’s my biggest fear..getting brainwashed by the media mastheads 😂
To be perfectly honest Buttsy, why should I take any notice of their shit when I can with minimal effort make up my own shit?

If we have another poor year next year I'd share the same concerns that everyone here is currently having but if there is improvement don't underestimate how important the guys around him could be to him staying. At the end of the day he's a local junior & a lot the boys Galvin has been playing with since about 14-15 years old are coming through the club as well. He's only 19 at the end of the day there's still plenty of time for him to sign a long term extension & then leave the club if we're still struggling by that point (if we are just kick us out of the comp)

So back to his football for a second. One concern for me is that we moved him to the right on the weekend in prep for next year and yet he seemed to drift back to left but more then that his outside men in Faatape and Staines didn't get any ball - so my question is can he adapt to that side and can he pass to his right
