The NRL needs to introduce a $250K incentive to clubs salary caps that have developed each local junior and a transfer of $100k to clubs signing them from clubs that have invested resources in their development through SG, Matts and Ball to KOE and FG . Could be a sliding scale for years or grades ($50K per grade gets the $250K)
That can see Penrith and the Tigers rewarded for the development and may allow us to offer more to keep them without it being on the cap or benefit financially for the development with money added to our spending.
Agree. It's honestly worthless developing juniors
in this day and age, the odds are stacked against
these guys, and when they show good form they
get poached. Junior/Dev contracts fall under the
same umbrella as veteran allowance unfortunately
(300k all up). This has to change, especially when
you consider there is no draft system in the NRL
