Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I like what I see from Pole and the fainus. Seyfarth is starting to grow on me as well, as long as he keeps the aggression under control.
Plenty to like about what they’re doing - even Seyfarth or late…
But we’ve lost the best part of 500 games from our pack - which didn’t have a leader before that… and couldn’t win.

There’s a chasm between what we have, what we’re getting and what we need

Need an x factor in the pack to intimidate somewhere..ice cld do the job when he cared..Stephano looked like he cld but rarely did..Hunt good for 30 mins.if we get him.
But replacing 3 representative forwards is challenging

I think we're no chance of signing To'o but that is crazy underappreciation of an absolutely incredible winger who every team in the league would want on their team as their first choice winger. He does so much for Penrith, is so integral to how good they are and how consistently they perform. He's not just a player riding the good look of such a good team, he was a shining light for them before they became consistently good. I can't believe there's any doubt in anyone's mind that To'o isn't a crazily good winger. I'm taking him before any other winger in the league.
Then why is Penrith looking to move him (if they are)
If he’s seen in the light you’re painting -
No one should be appreciating him more than them - but the talk is there?

FTR, he hasn’t been judged in the top 2 wingers of the year in the last 2 years, despite his team coming first.
And I don’t think he’ll have it coming this year…

I don't think there has been any talk that Penrith want to release him. All of the reports have been that he is the one who might want out.

My issue isn’t with his talent, my issue is we have 2 wing positions and 2 centre spots and we have Doueihi, Lobb, Naden, Staines, Skelton, Olam, Saikuru, To’a and Turuva already signed plus likely one or both of Faataape and Alaimalo would be resigned. We need to spend the money bolstering the pack where our actual weak point is.

Fair play - if he’s as good as most think he is… would they let him go?
I don’t think they want to. He’s apparently decided he’s being severely underpaid since being back in camp with NSW and wants more money.

It’s likely irrelevant anyway, he’s signed until 2027, so unless panthers give him permission to negotiate we can’t even talk to him until the end of 2026.

He is still a great player, though many similar barnstorming type players wear out after several years and lose the punch that gave them the edge, some tapering off rapidly. As such, I would be wary of a long contract on the dollars that he would demand, but would certainly take him on his current term.

As good as To’o is, we’ve already got more than enough outside backs on the books for next year, we should be working on making sure we have a forward pack that can lay a platform for Jerome and Lachlan to work from. We’ve got Papali’i and Utoikamanu to replace.
Having a good forward pack means nothing if you don't have backs that can make metres

What bullshit.
To’o is easily the best winger in the comp.
You’re opinion isn’t gospel buddy…
Despite you talking down to everyone from some self imposed position of authority like you do.

He can make dirty meters, not tall, not quick - and not voted in the 2 best wingers in the comp for the last 2 seasons and very likely won’t be this year…

He’s often outplayed at origin level and he’s just not the best winger in the comp… one trick pony.
Would be lucky to be picked in the top 6 in this years comp…
The likes of Lomax and Warbrick have left him for dead..

Anyone who has actually watched To'o can tell the kid can play. And given he's played every origin since he debuted, I'd say both Fittler and McGuire would disagree that he's "often outplayed" at origin. Hell, him being near the top of the meter count in almost every game for NSW is enough, not to mention he makes post contact metres better than a lot of forwards.
