Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

You’re opinion isn’t gospel buddy…
Despite you talking down to everyone from some self imposed position of authority like you do.

He can make dirty meters, not tall, not quick - and not voted in the 2 best wingers in the comp for the last 2 seasons and very likely won’t be this year…

He’s often outplayed at origin level and he’s just not the best winger in the comp… one trick pony.
Would be lucky to be picked in the top 6 in this years comp…
The likes of Lomax and Warbrick have left him for dead..

All due respect if the belief around here is To’o would not significantly improve our backline and our team then that is what is wrong with our club.

The guy is ten times better than anyone we have in that position.

If he isn’t top six, then our backs are not top sixty.

I would almost rather play with one winger being To’o than the crap we have dished out on the wings this year.

We wouldn’t have cap space to pay To’o the rumoured 900k per season unless we offload Olam.
But considering we are supposedly paying Olam around 600k per season, we are offliading Naden on 300k per season and potentially offloading To’a on around 350k per season, it would well and truly create the cap space if we offload those 3.
That scenario would allow Turuva to play as one centre as it was promised to him when we signed him and would mean we still require another taller, more athletic and fast centre partner, with Staines and Skelton battling it out for the right wing position.

Wish we could sign Farnworth. Watched him last night and he is the form Centre of the comp atm imo. He'd never ever come to us but imagine how he could improve our backline.
We certainly need someone with his physical and athletic capabilities.

I was under the impression we have 2mil to spend but can’t sign anyone good?

Issues run deeper with the Broncos. I'd like to know how they addressed the GF loss. It seems teams don't thrive the following season(s) if they are pumped in a Grand Final (e.g., Parra), or lose from a winnable position like the Broncos last season. In both examples, the trauma is huge, but appears to be poorly addressed by sports teams. Usually, it's to never watch or refer to the game again. I'd say the opposite approach has to be taken. You re-watch the thing a gazillion times, and talk about so much that the mere reference down the track becomes 'meh', rather than the trauma it seems to be for these clubs.

They needed to keep experiencing that mental pain in pre-season, as to why they needed to work harder. Kevvie seems to be more of a laid-back, forget it-it didn't happen, she'll be right type of operator. I don't think that works in this case.
Hmmmm what about Penriths first gf against Melbourne? They've bounced back well

Potential Wests Tigers 2025

  1. Jahream Bula / Heath Mason
  2. Charlie Staines / Jeral Skelton
  3. Sunia Turuva / Solomon Faatape
  4. Justin Olam / Josh Feledy
  5. ** Brian To’o / Luke Laulilli
  6. Lachie Galvin / Adam Doueihi
  7. Jerom Luai / ** Niwhai Puru
  8. David Klemmer / Jordan Miller
  9. Api Korisau / Talyn Da Silva
  10. Fonua Pole / Sione Fainu
  11. ** Jack Williams / Tim Johanssen
  12. Samuela Fainu / ** Billy Burns
  13. ** Kobe Hetherington / Kit Laulilli
  14. Latu Fainu
  15. Alex Seyfarth
  16. Alex Twal
  17. ** Corey Horsburgh or Royce Hunt
** This top 30 would be with us offloading;
John Bateman
Jayden Sullivan
Starford To’a
Brent Naden
** Our other current top 30 contracted players are Justin Matamua, Chris Faagatu, Brandon Tumeth, Tony Sukkar and Solomone Saukuru and it would make little difference if any of these players remained in our top 30 at the expense of Kit Laulilli or Josh Feledy.
The only reason I have not locked in Chris Faagatu is because he is managed by Isaac Moses and there is speculation he will be departing because of it.

Cap space isn't an issue. We have a little under $2m + whatever Sezar was on as expectation was he would stay.

But sounds like he has taken the Hull FC offer (they were initially after Sullivan)

At least that opens up a spot. I think club will still be open to offloading Sullivan if we don't have to pay too much. But if we do a depth halves signing would be needed, maybe a cheapie like Ronald Volkman would be doable on a T&T to play cup since he is coming back from injury.

Whispers that NRL clubs are interested in Naden, Klemmer and Sullivan if price is right.

Haven't heard anything on Toa, probably harder to offload as he has a couple of years left and has barely played a game all year.

Don't think we'd bother replacing Naden with an outside signing.

Would be happy for Klemmer to move on, would love a real intimidator like NAS if he left though as a replacement.

Seems like Tumeth will be paid out if he takes up his option.

Not sure if any other young players will be paid out. Likely players with only 1 year left on their deals eg. Feledy & Matamua if so.

Club should announce the initial list of departing players next week and then expect more movement over the off season as other teams finish up their season.

wishlist aside there's 0 chance of Brian To'o. He's signed with Penrith until 2027 and committed.

“Price is right”…

ie… Tigers coughing up most of the money …

Volkman will get a Top 30 deal somewhere ..he is a reasonable level player..

I don’t rate Klemmer much ..but given the other losses to date in the forwards..they gotta keep someone

To'o for us would be huge, covers a position in the backline and provides us an extra forward for our pack that at times just cannot generate momentum. Just depends on how much is he worth. Easily the 800k we offered Steph. For a winger that's insane but to'o is also a wrecking ball when hitting the ball up, so I think he would be great value.
Agree. Our ability to make meters on tackle 1 and 2 is likely the worst in the comp. There isn’t a team in the competition that To’o is more valuable too.
Him CHOOSING to come to play with his mates and be part of turning the Tigers around… not quite priceless but very close too.

If there is no way we can get Brian To’o, another potential target could be Tolutau Koula as he is currently being left out of Manly’s starting line up in favour of Tommy Talau.
He has a long term contract with Manly, but he certainly will not be happy if he continues to be left out of the starting line up, Manly will need to upgrade Lehi Hopoate and it’s no benefit to them to have a well paid outside back not in their starting line up.

I simply can't believe Talau is being picked ahead of Koula. That is simply criminal
