Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I see more than 20 minutes in him, but that is exactly how it should be assessed. A moneyball style approach plus a bit added for our lowly position and potential/expected development of the younger players.
Yes I’m hoping we can get more worthwhile minutes out of Pole next year, I do notice him being slow of the ground after being in a tackle after he has been on for 15 to 20 min.
Saying that if we can get 20 min out of our middles without them missing tackles and dropping balls we should be happy.

I don't love the idea of RCG, but I don't hate it either.

It wouldn't remove the need for a #13 to be added, or for Latu Fainu to play #13 (or Twal, to a degree)

I know we have been let down with older players of late , but as I have stated before NEXT YEAR has to be the turning point we fail to make the 8 or just miss out , it will set our club back another 5-10 years , the kids will be lining up to jump ship , THIS is where we need a very strong FORWARD pack , so that are gun 1/2s can go forward , if it means giving RCG a 3 year contract at $600 to $650 , I say do it , he punches holes in attack and is a good defender, no one knows how he will preform over 3 years but then again he might fall of the tree after 1year , we bought a GUN 1/2 and have a GUN 5/8 and a improving fullback , but they need a strong pack , I think it’s worth the Risk

Sione Mata’utia has been brilliant for the Pommy side Saint Helens .. but is his body up for the speed the NRL plays at these days .. ?? He's only 28 yrs young .. can play anywhere in the forwards and a capable centre if needed .. he'd be the perfect number 14 for any club .. you gotta reckon if he returns to the NRL it would be with Newie. But there would be no harm in the Tigers asking to have a chat with him to see if he's up for it.
Nothing wrong with versatility, but we need that versatility in the backrow right now. And we still need a prop. We lack depth and having Sam Fainu and Seyfarth with Porter and Sukkar as depth simply isn't going to be good enough. Adding Bird helps, but I can see Benji will move him around to plug gaps rather than locking down a position.

This guy would be a good addition, but I will always say, the price is what determines whether or not a player should come regardless of talent. If we can get him on 300k to 350k and release Bateman, that would be good business by the club and leave us money for a prop.

Yes.

Spoonbowl showed us all we have the depth of a sparrow’s birdbath.

We haven’t made any “risky” or “panic purchases” for a whole season and the eventual outcome was the humiliation called spoonbowl.

I think the powers that be realise our fragility this year that and that’s we signed Bird and Hunt against all this pathways worshipping.

I don’t think the asking price for RCG is great, I don’t think 3 years is fair when he’s a bit dodgy and will decline.

But I think we can afford him and in the absence of anything better, that we would be better off with him than we are now.

I don’t want another season of flatlining. Kids or no kids, we need to strap ourselves in and take some risks.

I won’t share the personal stories I’ve heard about him. Not very nice. I won’t be lining up for his autograph.

Cory Parker doesn’t like us much does he. Always ripping into us every opportunity. However his latest article suggesting we haven’t improved this season and won’t improve next season due to our lack of defensive mindset or players, is pretty true. These last few recruitment spots must be for guys like Kobe Hetherington who will work hard and plug up our middle- we need attitude in D.
He should be focused on the broncos. They have fallen from grace and have signed no one. The way they are shaping up they won't make the 8 next year and kevvy will get the sack mid season.

It's going to be nice when we start winning and shutting these AHoles up

From a FOX Sport Article:

If all else fails, the Tigers shape as RCG’s likeliest destination given the club’s desperate need for middle forwards, and experienced heads.

Young star Stefano Utoikamanu and Isaiah Papali’i have already exited the club, with John Bateman likely to follow them, leaving a hole in the middle of Benji Marshall’s side.

Enter Campbell-Gillard?

The towering middle could be exactly what the club needs; an ex-Origin and Australian star with plenty of footy left in him to mentor and motivate the club’s crop of promising young middles, including Fonua Pole and Sione Fainu.

And unlike some of the other club’s mentioned, the Tigers may have the cap space to squeeze RCG into their roster, helped by the trio of aforementioned departures.

Junior Tupou also departs the club at the end of the year, while Aidan Sezer appears likely to exit Concord at season’s end.

Add to this the arrivals of Jarome Luai, Sunia Turuva, Royce Hunt and Jack Bird, mixed with the Tigers’ impressive core of young stars spearheaded by Lachlan Galvin, and there’s something brewing at the Tigers.

Campbell-Gillard would add to this immensely, and his signing would only further confirm Benji Marshall’s side as a club on the rise.
This is nothing but a theory... may as well be from a forum member haha

He does, but if it ever came to that big moment, is he the guy? Start of this year we had plenty of close games. I don't expect him to stop the bad defence and conceding points, but as a half the pressure will be on him to deliver under pressure. Sezer was the ice man this year. Brooks was able to do it at times in the past
I have zero concerns with Romey. He is one of them guys who gets betting the more pressure. I know we gave him a truckload of money to come but the challenge of making us better and it being his team will drive this bloke even more.

In moments it’s very obvious who the more talented player is. Stef just didn’t give us many moments this year.

Adding the best tackle busting prop to the minor premiers is a pretty scary thought.

Pole shows promise, but not sure he’s as good as hyped on here sometimes.
It's just one of those things where time will tell. Just feel Pole showed more heart for us than Stephano this year.
