John Bateman #268

Jhonne is the type of guy I can imagine that either
can stoop to your level or rise to the occasion. I've
been vocal about wanting him 2 come back. Chammas
doing everyone else's bidding (Moses) again the
lapdog dope. Bateman will go rise to the occasion
with Luai & Co. When we start building a winning
culture, he's just the guy you need 4 that. He has
been a bit underwhelming this past few seasons -
who hasn't on the team. We need a 2nd/13 that
can cut across the defensive line anyway. Some
of you are letting your feelings & what you think of
the man get in the way of things. He'll go alright
 
I say this is just Moses to try and get the club to chip in for him to stay in England rather than come back. I still think for now he won’t be back for next season, but I will say we do need another backrower to replace him. You can’t have Seyfarth there as a genuine replacement, we’ll need better if he isn’t coming back. I won’t lose sleep if he comes back or not but if he ain’t we do have to find a replacement.

I'm pretty sure demanding him back Nov 1 would be us breaching contract. The RLPA has an agreement for how much time off each player gets. I can't recall the exact agreement but it is a combination of last game played and experience. He would obviously be in the top bracket for experience, meaning longer time off and playing in England he will have more games before his season is over. He may also be playing in England's end of year test matches. If so his time off wouldn't start until Nov. So contractually he probably wouldn't be due back til January.
Having said all that, I agree with others that it is probably just his manager looking to ensure he receives a payout if we want him off the books.

Totally disagree. I'm certainly not letting what I think of the man cloud my judgement. Because I have always said I admire his effort. He puts in. So as a man im fine with him. It's just that his effort results in zero positive impact on our performances.

Also, the last thing we need is another player to cut across the defensive line. We have Galvin and Luai who already do too much of that. We need straight runners and need them badly.

Fair play, but we need a 2nd rower/13, he's already
been accounted for. I have no probs with Galvin &
Bateman cutting across the D line, we've just had
no runners, nobody wanted 2 find a hole in fear of
getting blidsided in a punishing tackle. My 2 cents
