Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Brooks played pretty much the same at Manly that he did here. Maybe slightly better due to 2 things. More arsenal around him to draw defenders away giving him space, and also the fact he was the "2nd half" rather than the main man. He struggled big time when DCE was out.
I agree with the assessment that his game hasn't changed much at Manly. I think it is a bit disingenious to say he struggled without DCE. He did struggle the first game DCE missed, but Manly also had more than half their side out in that game. He was near best on ground in the 2nd game he played. Either way I don't think Brooks performances is reflective of coaching (here or Manly) but squad strength.

I take your point, but..

Those are generally the exception to the rule, rather than a data-affecting regularity.

Penalties conceded is a pretty good measure, among other things, of general, overall discipline.
Poor Discipline is always going to hurt your team , people bag Bateman but he is 100% effort , some silly things but obviously not as bad as our captain and our half back , 2 important players letting the team down , It’s ok to get rid of Bateman but very hard to replace going off current signings , this week 2 reserve graders , and everyone said once finals are over they will come , well I’m waiting

Don't disagree.

But at the same time- if he is slower, less effective, injured etc- we are not getting 26 year old Frizell.

You'd be buying in a guy that is the oldest player in the squad from Day 1. Expectations on him should be realistic. I would expect him to play to the best of his ability. But that might not be the dream some have in mind.
Never, ever, EVER buy a player over 29. Never ever. I know there are exceptions that work for Wayne Bennett, but the odds of any others working out are at least 20:1. Just don't do it.

Yep. Next season out; ….. But maybe?
Got to start shopping now, paperwork after Nov 1.
Agitation; can't keep them all under the cap from other clubs comes into play, homesick, be with family, not enough time on the field, bench or KOE, undervalued by incumbent club, swap deals etc. A myriad of reasons.
Fingers crossed for this year. Early strikes for 2026?
When most people that said there is no quality available, they were talking about next year.

Very rare that teams release players they wanted to keep early from their contract. This is almost exclusively a Wests Tigers thing.

Purely guesswork here but reading the tea leaves, these are the outgoings I think will occur over the next few weeks ...

1 Jordan Miller (all the rumours & non-club international acknowledgment too coincidental, to Souths or Dogs)
2 Brandon Tumeth (I reckon he won't take up PO & Moses will find him a spot at the Knights)
3 John Bateman (middle grounnd will be agreed & off to Manly he'll go)
4 Adam Doeuihi (Dragons will offer him a 2 year deal & opportunity to be a backup half)
5 One of Brent Naden, Star To'a or Charlie Staines (if we can't find a suitor for Naden then we'll happily release To'a or Staines on full freight)

That will have us at 26 roster spots out of 30 allowing Sione Fainu to be re-signed, and allow us to target another middle, a backrower and left wing.
My info. indicates Miller is in the - top 30 - for 2025 and 2026? A BS rumour that gains traction?
How can he just get out of it that easy this early? When is a contract a contract?

I'm pretty sure the rumour is that we are moving him on for going against what the club asked from him.. It's not him trying to get out of his contract early

Sometimes I wonder......is our Administration really as dumb as they make out...

1) Richo comes out in the media and states Bateman better toe the line yada yada yada...he clearly gives an indication to other clubs Bateman is not wanted by the club....when we let Bateman go mid point last year it was widely reported the WT were hoping to not see him back.... Now its obvious the WT are trying to offload Bateman and other clubs, clued on are milking us to pay as much freight as they can squeeze out of us knowing how desperate we are wanting Bateman gone...

2) Had Richo played it smarter and been absolutely hush hush about his intentions on Bateman, clubs would have been very keen to take him off our hands at a lot less than what we are going to pitch in if they didn't know our desperation to get rid of him!..

Dumb move by RIcho?.....

3) Ontoni Large, he was contracted to the WT till 2025 or 26(?)...he is an up and coming super talent, possibly a generational player, every club would've salivated to get their hands on him...Beacuse he wants to only play in the halves and we are okay in that area, we release him from his contract for him to sign with Manly....

Dumb move by Richo?.....

Surely we could've gotten something in return for releasing Large from his contract...Manly are laughing at our Administration and thanking them at the same time....No other club would've done this bar the WT!....

I thought Richo was smarter than what he has shown here!..just my vent for the night!.. 🙂
Yep, another balls up by Richo, becoming the norm. Richo, playing this Bateman issue out in the media will bite us in the arse much like Dragons and Hunt playing out the same way. Not surprisingly both teams are at the wrong end of the table. Never happen at the Panthers or Storm best signing we could make is Ponisi or Matt Cameron and get rid of the clown show. So over this amateur hour administration. Releasing star juniors just icing on the cake for this bloke

I don't think we can afford to have both Twal and Seyfarth.
Twal is the best forward we have !! O do not get the hate for him, he always runs hard and is an effective defender.. I’m convinced people her do not watch the games themselves and instead just copy the opinions of other posters . Twal is no a problem at West’s Tigers .. Belllamy would make an absolute star out of him

For me I could just see things that came natural to him done easy in his first stint as an NRL front rower. So that highlighted a big upside IMO. 2 years ago he was overweight and ineffective. In one off season he completely transformed his body, made his NRL debut, and by seasons end the ease in which he used footwork late at the line, gained post contact metres while looking to offload was a great sign of what he can bring with another huge off-season. There were glimpses of AFB in his attack.

So I'm on the other side of the fence here, I think it's hard not to be excited by him. His defence improved a lot which also excited me. He needs to work hard in that area, but the fact he improved it so much during the season has me really believing in him.
Plus.. I want him and his brothers to love the wests Tigers and it to be the family club they spend their entire careers at !!

Anyone know what happened to Will Craig this year? He played some matches in SG Ball, then one or two matches in Flegg and that seems to be it.

For someone who moves into our NRL system next year it seems odd that he wasn't playing Flegg all season. I'm guessing he must've been injured?

In the end we need to make some decisions around the likes of Feledy, Craig, L Laulilii, Mason, Faatape. There's only really room for 2 to be involved with the first team squad. It says a lot about our lack of depth that all 5 are in there
Craig is in a development deal next year.. kid can play .. for real

So u seen what happened to brooks when he left , most on here said he was hopeless boy did he kick sand in peoples face , if Bateman goes too and had a brilliant season , would it not make sense that something is wrong with our coaches
Huh??? I saw him make a lot of the same mistakes he made here .. only he had DCE and Turbo to ice the opportunities that LUke never could
