Elon Musk is in everything 100% for Elon Musk. He supports Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon because it benefits Elon Musk. He bought Twitter because his ego made him do it, and then he tried to back out but could not. He's not doing it for some worldwide crusade.

The bloke is no doubt extremely talented and has a unique mind, but I personally think he's going off the deep end.

But also - I am not specifically saying tariffs are bad in and of themselves, I am saying they will ultimately cost the American taxpayer. This is the same American taxpayer who is worried about cost of living, the poverty line, minimum wages and inflation.

As a voter you cannot say "I am worried about the cost of living crisis and inflation" and then vote for the guy who wants to introduce huge trade tariffs. There is huge risk that this behaviour will make things worse for low-income Americans.

I fear some people think the tariffs are a good idea, only as a concept of "Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon sticking it to THE MAN", the man being "other countries", and not giving any thought for the downstream effects of going into what is effectively a trading war with other nations.

No, he wants the guy who is the best chance of helping him get his Tesla robot cars onto the streets.

He also wants the guy who will install him as a direct business advisor to the President.

How could Musk possibly think Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon is the guy to subvert an economic crisis? The American economy is going gangbusters under the Democrats at the moment. You'd be a fool to tamper with it.

I have always admired some of Musk's long-term goals for automation and space travel, and he has achieved great things in business, but I can't pretend it's all altruistic and not a massive part of an ego-drive.

I had that same mindset as you in 2016, that it wasn't our problem, then Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon got into power and it became our problem. I didn't really believe that one bad leader could alter the US so drastically.

Unfortunately Australia is heavily coupled to the US and we cannot have lunatics in power over there - it's bad for us. If you are ignorant of that - either misinformed or wilfully ignorant, that's your problem, but you will be affected all the same.

Just as it is/was immoral to lie to his supporters about an election that he knows he lost by a large margin to fund raise upon those lies and syphon off the vast majority of those monies. Then there is his pardoning Steve Bannon for similarly ripping off his base in a build the wall scam.

It's not so much sticking it to the man, as sticking it to transnational corporations who have gorged themselves on profits at the expense of society, in a race to the bottom of wherever on earth they can find the cheapest wages.
