Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I’m not opposed to us trying to sign Terrell May, but if you break things down, what does he actually do that is any better than Alex Twal ?
Amongst some highly physical and aggressive forwards Twal’s reliability and workrate becomes very valuable.
Of course the Roosters will throw their hat in the ring to try and sign Leo Thompson, but with nearly every NRLclub lining up for his services, they nor any other club will get him for under his market value like they generally expect.
Terrell is far more aggressive, makes much more impact, can break tackles and offload, while still tackling effectively. Twal is a workhorse but the second an opponent touches him he falls to the ground like a sack of spuds.

They are two completely different players.

Vicious, I like you and your input, even though we disagree on Bula, but May no better than Twal?

Two completely different styles of player.
How so ?
Neither of them is overly big or fast.
Neither of them carry the ball aggressively enough to steamroll opposing defenders.
Neither of them demonstrate much footwork.
Neither of them hit hard in defence.
However both are very hard workers who you can rely on to make their metres, make their tackles and do the hard work that often goes unnoticed.

Maybe we didn't let him go. Maybe he said he didn't want to commit to WT once his contract finished up. Or he could be homesick and wanting to return to QLD. Could be a bunch of reasons. If they're not in it for the long haul, no point keeping them around.
Might be because he's not going to play NRL

I don’t see Terrell as someone who can bust tackles and put fear into the opposition.
At times he’s looked ok off the back of highly aggressive carries from his Roosters team mates, nothing plenty of our current forwards could not do themselves.
As I’ve said, he’s a good reliable player, but if you want or expect him to be the point of difference, you will be very disappointed.
Take his two games for Samoa against England as an example.

I don’t think there is much difference.
One thing for certain, we desperately need Bula to go to another level and play like he did against the Cowboys at Leichhardt much more consistently if we are to make a big improvement as a team in 2025.

This season:

Twal: 26 tackle breaks, 565 post contact metres, 6 offloads, avg metres 80, tackling 97.2%, line breaks 0.
May: 64 tackle breaks, 1087 post contact metres, 40 offloads, avg metres 110, tackling 97.75%, line breaks 6.

May is also 3 years younger, and a far superior player.

Yes it's easier to look good in a better team with better players but May was still largely a bench prop and still punched out very impressive stats.

To add to this whilst Twal is an excellent tackler he is a horrible defender. He is one of the better front on defenders in the game but; he has no line speed. He is slow to get up and get back for the next tackle. He doesn't work from the inside out to prevent overlaps from happening.

Have listened to the boys for a long time and their knowledge is in their tagline “unqualified opinion and unwavering bias”

That most recent podcast name will look ridiculous in a couple weeks to come. I didn’t even get to that trade part yet. Got a better chance of the snake coming out of retirement
Exactly these guys are Manly fans and are wanting this to happen. Not actually happening 🤦🏻‍♂️

TIGERS SET TO POACH YOUNG GUN

The Tigers have plenty of good young halves in their ranks and are set to poach another one from the Dragons' junior ranks.

Levi Valesini is only 18 but has already played first grade against grown men for Albion Park in the Illawarra league.

The teenager had a ground-breaking year in 2024 - he was named Group 7 under 18 player of the year and also Illawarra South Coast Laurie Daley Cup MVP.

He's in talks with the joint venture and is likely to start next season playing for Wests Magpies in the SG Ball Cup.

"Levi is a real prospect and there has been plenty of interest in him," his manager Pierre Tannous told Wide World of Sports.
What position does he play ?
