Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Are the Israel Folau Comps legit ? That’s the level I’ve heard ?
Nice...in photos and video he looks on the skinny side...is he quite skinny or is this the camera I need in my life?
Here he is next to Royce Hunt as a guide. Short answer, no. He's a beast, particularly for a 17 year old.

I'm loathe to make comparisons between players, particularly after that type of thing has burnt tigers fans in the past, but names such as Folau, Inglis and even Lomu have come up in early observations of him.

My take is that physically, he'll be more than ready by the time he's 18. Not to dominate, but to handle the occasion. He has crisp hands, is incredibly hard to handle in contact, can leap with the best of them and has more than enough toe, especially considering his size. My only concern, if there is one, is that he's always been a physical specimen, so I can see him taking some time to settle into first grade before we see him really take off. Mainly due to the NRL being full of other physical specimens that are also fully grown men. I often think of Timoko and Penisini here, not in playing style, but in terms of taking a while to find their feet in the top flight. But I've got no doubt that he will be incredible to watch develop and grow.

He'll do some special things.

To be honest, I'm not the authority here, as there are several, other quality posters with a far more detailed pickup on many of our juniors, namely @BlackWhiteGold and @jrtiger. But there are several others too who can break down his strengths in greater detail than I, I'm sure.

Turns 18 on 27 July. Will debut sometime within our final 5 matches whether it's as a starter or off the bench (probably depending on how the team is performing at the time I'd suggest).

You're right...big legs too. That's where all the power comes from. Excited to see him get a run at some stage.

I wonder if he's allowed to turn out in the trials or do we need dispensation for that, if he can give him a run out there see how he handles it. I know trial form isn't worth a lot but would give the club and us a glimpse.

I read that the Roosters only have 23-25 players (cannot confirm) signed to their top 30 squad for next season. When you consider they have two key players, Walker and Smith, out until mid-season, they will likely need some seasoned players to fill their top 30.

I could see them as an ideal destination for players like Douehi and Naden on one-year contracts, offering a better chance to secure a first-grade gig. 🤞

Why do we need to rush him?
We don’t. He's not going to be in the team.

May get a run later for development purposes.

Is that rushing? I don't know.

But, to answer philosophically...why do we rush anything? To get there faster I suppose. Why do people speed? Or rush through homework? Or sprint to the finish line? Maybe you have the answer. I don't.

I was just asking if they think he'll get a go at some stage. Haven't seen him play really.

You bring kids in that young, it can break them. They aren’t all Galvin’s. He’s 17. Talk of him debuting in 25 is nuts.

In what universe would Brent Nadan fit in at the Roosters?
