Western Suburbs Magpies - Proposed Lidcombe Oval Long Term Lease

If the Wests Tigers will really invest around the high growth are of Campbeltown, Shouldn't the combined feeder team also be based out there???

One Wests Tigers identity please!
I don't mind the Magpies existing as their own thing... under the Wests Tigers identity.

That's how feeder clubs work. Happy for the pies to keep the black and white and everything...

Lidcombe or C'town... Both work and Lidcombe is a bit of a hub.

We do need to build Campbelltown/Camden and build it strong. We can own the area if we choose too.

Lidcombe Oval has received a much-needed grant from the Australian Government, with a planned new changeroom set to provide increased accessibility for female athletes.

A $700,000 injection to the ground has been issued via the Government’s Play Our Way program, which allows ‘greater opportunities for women and girls to access, participate and remain involved in sport and physical activity’.

Along with the new changeroom, Wests Tigers will contribute over $300,000 to the upgraded Lidcombe Oval facility.

The Holman Barnes Group via Wests Ashfield will also make a significant monetary contribution to the upgrade.

Federal Minister for Education, Jason Clare, was on hand at Lidcombe Oval to announce the commissioning of the project.

At Tuesday's presentation, Wests Magpies General Manager, Leo Epifania, discussed how the deal will benefit the
Lidcombe Oval precinct.

“ We really needed a bit of a boost here. Having more change-rooms  which cater better to the women’s game, that's where it's mainly aimed at,” Epifania said.

“ It cuts away all the crossover when there’s men’s and women’s games on the same day, which makes it a lot more professional, and  respectfully, everyone now gets to use change rooms that are adequate.

I think the important thing is that we’re working really closely with Wests Tigers, because we always said that we wanted Lidcombe Oval to be an outlet if they needed it in any way for games or training.

Leo Epifania
“ The new funding means that as many games as they need to play here, or as many training sessions they need to have, we’re equipped with the right facilities to be able to cater to multiple teams at the same time.”

Over 30 Wests Tigers pathways games will be played at Lidcombe Oval in 2025, spanning NSW Cup, NSW Women’s Premiership, Jersey Flegg Cup, SG Ball Cup and Harold Matthews Cup.

Among these matches include the Magpies NSW Cup games to be played against Newtown for the Tom Raudonikis Cup and against the Dragons for the Roy Masters Cup.

Lidcombe Oval holds many great memories for a lot of us.
It's funny, though, that parts of society are falling over themselves to build "gender inclusive" toilets, and here we are building toilets and change facilities that segregate.
Lidcombe only deals in the truth !

Just noticed in the photo of Wests players behind the group they've spelt Peter Dimond's name incorrectly. Not a big deal but it's not hard to get these things right and it shows respect.
It is a big deal, how often do these things happen, and it just shows a complete lack of care and attention to detail.

I can understand someone making a spelling mistake or getting some minor details wrong when writing on a forum or something like that, but when you are creating a permanent tribute to an individual that is going to be on display in a permanent or semi permanent display, there is no excuse for not checking the correct spelling or confirming relevant facts facts prior to creating the tribute.

Just my thoughts anyway because it is something that really irritates me, if you are going to create some sort of a tribute, get it right.

Totally agree, and that is not just some temporary home made fan sign. That is a paid for permanent homage to a former great and instead of respecting him by not installing it until it is fixed, we slapped it up anyway.
Are we sure Fruit Pascals has left the building, that is typical of his tenure.

Was it done by WestsTigers or Western Suburbs though?

Just like Benji's Grand Final win with St.George.

I often make jokes about things like that because it really irritates me and I make a point of highlighting those types of errors that just should not happen.

Just seems to be typical of our current times with a lack of attention to detail and seemingly very little pride in workmanship in many areas.

Yeah totally agree

You'd think a true blue hardcore lifelong Magpie like Dennis would notice and make sure it's rectified 🤔
Poor as
