KONSTAS’ TIGERS TIES

Expect plenty of Wests Tigers action surrounding new cricket sensation Sam Konstas with the Tigers staff well aware of his passion for the club.

It comes as his brother Billy is the club’s physiotherapist for the Macarthur Wests Tigers’ Laurie Daley Cup under-18 team.

Sam was born on the same day the Tigers won their only premiership – October 2, 2005.

RABS JUNIOR FLEES TIGERS

Chris Warren has joined the Sea Eagles to head up its new-look communications team.

Warren, the son of legendary rugby league commentator Ray, left his job at the Tigers before Christmas to take up a similar position with Manly.

Warren, who played five games for the Magpies, replaces Manly’s popular long-term media manager Wayne Cousins.

TIGERS BACKFLIP ON UNWANTED FLYER

Brent Naden has gone from the chopping block at the Wests Tigers to transforming himself to becoming one of the most impressive players before the Christmas break.

Naden was given the opportunity to join the likes of Jayden Sullivan and John Bateman to exit the Tigers however the outside back indicated he wanted to fight for his spot.

Despite the speculation, Naden has responded in a way which has left the Tigers impressed with the way he has handled himself since returning to pre-season training.

“He has come back with a great attitude,” Tigers boss Shane Richardson said. “He is a completely different player.”

He is now pushing for a starting wing spot. Naden is off-contract at the end of this year. He played just 17 games for the Tigers in the past two years.

Naden fighting for a NRL career for those who watch reggies did he always put in? Get the bloke a sports psychologist so he doesn't buckle under pressure.
Looked great in ressies. There was a game last year where he kicked a 40/20 then went on to set up two tries to come from behind and seal a win. It was magnificent to watch. His next NRL game he had the brain snap right on half time and was sent to the bin. Does not seem to adapt to the pressure of the NRL.

Nasty paradox you face when in the junior ranks they look promising only not to live up to expectations happens a lot.
It is and it isn't Mate,
All kids need time to develop and should be given a chance, I've no problem with that.
I have a problem with them doing it at top grade when they're no where near ready -
Taking up Roster spots and costing minimum wages at least.
Last year,
We'd have been paying Tumeth 120-150k to play mostly with kids on 5-10k.
We need to take a punt on Kids, But we're doing it far too often and haven't got a good record of
getting it right.
That said, We've had a more victories of late.

You wouldn't believe it,
When Chris announced he was leaving I said to a mate - I sense the return of Cousins as media manager.
Now this 😂😂😂

The old gang may well and truly be getting back together??

Have to remember that wave of players was before Richo too possibly caved to pressure from player managers and parents.

Happy to hear Naden is stepping up in the pre-season. I still wouldn't have him start in round 1 though.

We can call him up if we get desperate.
I'd only put Naden as a backup winger, or backup left centre after Olam. He has carved up outside Romey before. Look at some 2019/20 highlights and they link up well. He is horrible defensively at right centre. We need to recruit someone for next season to be a specialist defensive right centre, as well as a decent right second rower. That side will be a weak link again in 2025
