Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

??? Most players came through grade playing completely different positions to the ones they ended up playing in first grade . As for Benji even he adapted from the spark plug , the game revolves around whenever you want to do your thing , to the game managing half and tactician he retired as .
I think that’s a really obtuse outlook mate .
I agree mostly, the bit that made my honey on toast spray out my mouth and into my corn flakes was when you called Benji (who is the greatest 5/8 ever), a “game managing half”.
Ok tactically he knew what was going on. But his management skills were much better on that tv show. Which is why I still have hope for him as a coach. Hopefully he can manage coaching.
Still luv ya Benj

Yeah - Absence makes the heart grow fonder (They say)
Not the first time I've seen Benji called a game managing half by the end of his career here.

I guess that's what the Internet is for, Making crazy outlandish claims for clicks.

I think it has more to do with your first sentence around here though. We all love to remember Benji in a good way, and yeah he tried to be that Prince type of half towards the end but it wasn’t him. He needed a good calm half next to him and it wasn’t his fault we didn’t get one after Prince left. When the wife beater played a couple of years, Benji killed it again.
Greatest 5/8. Most entertaining player I’ve ever seen.
Still Luv ya Benj

That’s how I started feeling about Sheens around 2017-18. I think I may have even started a thread suggesting he come back as a coaching director. Careful what you wish for as they say.

One thing is definitely clear. Too many carbs for breakfast.

That’s what he retired as …. I don’t get what you’re saying ? He wore the 6 but he very much was the 7 in the last 2 years as a tiger . Even more so as first drop at Souths . That’s the person I’m referring to . 36 year old Benji Marshall , not flick passing around the corner , side step into thin air , occasionally putting the ball in row 7 , Benji Marshall . Due to how different those players were , that’s to my original point . Nrl players evolve , in fact whether they made nrl or not , they’d evolve , and if they’re students of the game , they’d would understand the ins and outs of what’s required as a footy coach . Obviously though , Benji isn’t going to 100 know what it feels like to play 80mins in the middle against JWH or that 2010s sharks pack . But why would he ever need to ? Hopefully the veterans and leadership group in the team would be able to cover those things .
