TEAM LIST Preseason Challenge Week 1 v Canterbury

Team List
RBS, love Weimaraner breed, used to breed this type of dog and on and off had several at the same time. lovely nature, but very clingy. The last dog i had was a blue Grate Dane, same colour as the Weimaraner but somewhat larger (74Kg) A big boy indeed. Sadly had to let him go as he developed bone cancer of the rear leg, was the saddest day of my life making that decision.
The Great Dane was a gentle giant and had a chill out attitude, anyway, hugs to your Weimaraner.
Clingy is an understatement. She is my shadow.
My wife gets jealous that the dog insists on holding my hand when we watch television.

Good Food including a for start is lacking an the place feels vacant.

See you guys 25-27th September 2025

Any recommendations are welcome
Depends what you are into Spartan. I lived there for a few years and liked it. Maybe you have to be there to make the friends to be able to find out what's going on, but I like the Art Gallery and the Portrait Gallery, which are both free. And I liked how you get out of the city and into nature much quicker and easier than when I lived in Sydney. It's not a big city though, so depends what you are into. And if you are travelling with family/kids etc

Mate, how many times has this happened to me, my wife is the same, the dog always sitting between us! Just enjoy their presence while you can, cause once gone, you only have the memories to remind you. All the best to you and your Weimaraner. From my perspective, Facebook is SO cruel with all those memory photos, just when you start to put it at the back of your mind and move on, out comes a memory photo to remind you, and toy with your feelings. All the best to you.

There are some very good restaurants there. Some legit fine dining in Ansley I think its called. Plenty of modern fusion types in Bradon and Kingston. The Boathouse on the lake, a few wineries on the outskirts are also top notch.
I havent been for a fair while, but I usually end up at black tie events and dinners and they are as good as you get anywhere else.

From this team I’m hoping that only the following are named for our round 1 team,
2. Jeral Skelton (needs to impress)
6. Lachlan Galvin
9. Tallyn Da Silva
10. David Klemmer
14. Latu Fainu
17. Sione Fainu (needs to impress)

If we are going to improve the rest haven’t shown enough to be in our best 17.
I believe Skelton already impressed enough for us to buy him. Sione brothers won't be impressed if we dump him. You know how brothers can be.

This can be a danger X especially when you have 3 in a top 30 depends on their attitudes though if they are willing to listen and not get pissed if they don't like what they hear.

AHX 30 players impressed us enough to sign them to top 30 contracts, but only 17 of them can play NRL each week.
So what I’m saying is yes Skelton impressed us enough to sign him, that doesn’t guarantee him a position in our NRL top 17 each week, he needs to play well and earn it.
As for the brothers, they all appear to be talented enough to be in or very close to making our NRL top 17 each week, but again there is no guarantees they need to play well.
The bottom line is we look to have a bit more solid competition for our NRL top 17 than we did last season, let’s hope that helps improve our results.

I think Klemmer needs to impress he's well past it
In my book.

I don’t think he’s well past it, but he now plays more like a 400-500k per season prop, rather than an 800k per season prop that we are paying him.
Klem has 6 games to impress Richo and Benji he deserves to stay in FG for the rest of the year....if he fails he will not make his 2026 contract activation clause

it will be interesting to see if Twal or one of the younger guys can jump him in the peaking order.
My money is on Twal definitley jumping him in the pecking order and I actually think Sione Fainu and Johannssen will play more first grade than him this year.

Klemmer is just too slow. The effort is there but he doesn’t have the lateral movement in defence and he looks like he’s moving through wet cement when he’s running.

Just on the draw for the season , just looked at our 1st 7 games if we are to make the 8 I think we need to win 6 of those games , we got the knights , eels twice along with warriors , broncos and dolphins, so here’s hoping we get off on a good foot

Itll be quite simple for him to impress.
He has a couple of mean hombres backing him up now....lead them into war and intimidate or at least match the firepower of opposition packs. Let them be the muscle, they need leadership. Provide that whilst churning good numbers.

People saying Klemmer is falling behind Twal etc on the pecking order...

As if Klemmer was being challenged for playing time in 2024.

A little bit of realism. If fit, Klemmer was selected.
That was 2024... it's a new team this year and we've signed two new props. Think it's very likely that we see Hunt, May, Twal and Pole as our front row.

Klemmer is handy backup to have if we lose one of them to injury but not really value for money.

Forget about what he is been paid , he signed a contract , still think he is a very good tackler and we need that

I couldn't disagree more.

I attend an industry conference around September each year.

Canberra is boring and lacks anything if you're not binge drinking.
I suppose if comes down to mindset. War Memorial, Arboretum, National Museum, Galleries. If you just hang around the convention centre then you're bound to be bored.
