Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Yes but Laulilli and Matamua have not even shown they can stand out playing NSW Cup.
Johanssen has shown he can stand out at NSW Cup level, but there has to be concerns about his lightweight frame if being called upon to assist our NRL team take on the bigger more aggressive rival forward packs.
Why are we including Sam Fainu or Seyfarth as middle forward options when they will be needed exclusively as our edge forwards.
We will have a good top 17, but as soon as we get injuries to our forwards we will be up the creek without a paddle unless we sign much better depth, preferably a couple of players that are proven at NRL level.
Based on Klemmer’s likely departure I am much more concerned about our middle forward depth, than I am about our edge forward depth.
No team wins NRL games without strong middles, including the bench,
We have one back rower in our top 30 and you're not overly concerned??!

Got to say, AD actually impressed as goal kicker and general kicker. No I did not think we should keep him and I still don't... but he did very well in the trial.

Centers we have injured/out:
Naden
Olam
Turuva

But we have Faataape, Skelton, Bird really put their hands up. It's the first time I have really seen people put their hands up in our squad in a long time...

Backs, we will be alright. As you say there is a fight for the 14th jersey.
Forwards of all kinds, we have players that can go OK at Prop and want to play lock. Very little in 2RF options and hopefully we can sign a replacement soon there.
I would even take Matterson back at this rate.
Just looking at some of the comments about Matterson from Parra fans after Friday night, there would be quite a few who would happily drive him to Concord.

Some on here have no idea. AD should be a priority signing. I'd be interested to know another player in the NRL who can genuinely play a heap of positions ie fullback, 5/8, halfback, center, wing and is big enough to play in the forwards. He is big, strong and fast. Plus he's a really good kicker ( short, long and goal ). Seems to be an all round nice bloke and a good club man. An asset for any team.

Here, here. Whilst he’s not the greatest tackler I think he does cop a bad rap and nice to see someone point out his plusses.

100% thought he was within top 4/5 performers and done it easy considering amount of games he's played in last few seasons and dealing with the deamons of all recovery. Any club imo would be joerking themselves having this versatile quality for $ spent.I don't see to much downside at all.

as soon as Humphries came on Souths looked ok, Dodd is not the answer at 1/2 and i dont think Sullivan is a world beater either unfortunately. At this rate he and his huge contract will be back in 12 months
Didn't one of our forum members suggest Souths had made an approach to our club for Doueihi? If so, there must be concern about the halves at Souths.

agree but can not be elite dollars.
Geez we have some attacking weapons if they click together.
Romey, Douehi, Galvin, Latu , Bird.
Just need classy centres wingers and fullback to finish off.
I think Bula, Surava, Skelton have the ability to deliver that.
Toa possibly. Ollam if not injured.
Then we have Heath in reserve and young kids due on the scene next year from balmain and wests.
I think we are looking fairly strong.
Even in the forwards while we look short, some young guys stood out in reggies yesterday that i have never even heard of

His good games are great, but there's a big gap between his best and his worst.

On his current contract value, he's a no brainer in the top 30. I think he extended for only 250k. The trouble is he will want far more money and a regular first grade spot (and can probably get it elsewhere). He's not sticking around with us for bit part cameos during the season.

He was very competent playing 7 during the trial. He controlled the game nicely. I don't think his skills translate to centre.

If he's serious, he would do a pile of work on his defence and try to become and lock or edge 2nd rower. He has the frame in attack to be a real threat. Can pass and drop a kick if required. He'd be very valuable to us in those positions if he could get his defence up to scratch.

If he's intent on playing in the halves, then we simply don't have a spot for him other than to fill in when needed.

It's his lack of effort at times defensively that is the problem. Look at parras first try again. Naden has a bad miss, and it takes the hooker to come across to try and cover Nadens mistake while Doueihi simply made zero effort until it was too late. He does this all the time. If he pushed across straight away he is making the tackle well before TDS even gets there. If he fixes those effort areas and uses more composure in his decision making defensively, then he is a huge asset at centre. However most of us are sick of waiting for him to do this.
