How's your health?

So sorry for your loss Lauren, thank you for sharing something so personal that could actually help save a life.
Guys if you feel something isn’t right don’t be afraid to get 2nd or even third opinions.
I had issues with my heart beating out of my chest (even when I wasn’t watching Tiger games) but the doctor could find no problem, the hospital also found no problem, holter monitor showed nothing. I felt like I was going crazy, constantly being told everything was normal when I didn’t feel normal. Finally I went to the cardiologist who decided to try a ladybug heart monitor for a month….5 days in, they picked it up. Turned out I had an arrhythmia which was actually genetic.
Minor heart procedure, all fixed & no more random 240 heart rates.
Yep 100%

But please make sure you go to AHPRA accredited doctors and specialists as @jirskyr said.

I see too many people in my own clinic who think the medical system is out to get them. I can definitely say that yes there are some health professionals who think $$ first BUT I can safely say none of them would give you incorrect or wrong advise to make a few $$.

But do your due diligence and see more specialists if you need to.

Thank you for starting this thread it was a wonderful idea and it is so wonderful to see how supportive & encouraging our forum folk are.
To everyone battling health issues, I hope you are able to get them under control quickly & I hope you feel supported by all the wonderful folk on this forum. We may not always agree on football matters but we all agree on being here for whoever needs it, we are all in this together. ❤️

As suggested by 426Tlgerland I've created this thread where we can discuss our own health issues, or that of family & friend etc

One of the side issues from my liver/lung cancer/immunotherapy treatment is insomnia... But I've really been enjoying watching the tour de France... And a bit of Wimbledon too in between browsing the forum
Pain killers tend to see me waffle on a bit be it talking face to face or posting here so apologies for my long winded posts.

I see my hepatoligist at St George Hospital tomorrow so I've got a few questions and hoping things are "going well"... So to speak... Not real easy to go well with any type of cancer treatment.
I was looking for the fitness thread for something* I wanted to post...but found this one Id forgotten about, So I thought Id share some news
Cut a long story short im now in remission, specialist informed me last week no more tumours, no more immuno...just more regular checks, CT scans and bloods.
To have your life tipped upside down and all future plans (which many nearing retiring age have lots of) ...to have your plans basically cancelled, then a couple of years later suddenly have options again...well its fantastic, I always said Id beat it, always tried to stay positive... but there was always a nagging tiny thought at the back of my mind being negative

*Anyway, just wondering if anyone has used nasal strips?
I have a deviated septum from a long ago broken nose results in hard to breathe, snoring, blocked one side and now affectiing my ear as well I think.
Ive no idea how they work just looks like a small band aid on the nose which is why im skeptical
Slowly getting some running repairs while I have spare time, got the rotator cuff seen to by a physio, now for the schnoz

Good stuff Mark. Glad to see that your main hurdle has been cleared.

I know nothing about nasal strips but it is wonderful news about your remission, I have a few people going through cancer treatments at the moment and I hope they will receive the same good news. I am so happy for you.

Well done on winning that one! I had my nose rebored under a general after I finished playing and was about to get out of the the military (they had to pay). I should not have waited - I remember what it was like to breathe through my nose for the first time in twenty odd years, It was brilliant - snoring stopped almost immediately. The recovery is not fun - but well worth it.

What did they use 6mm reamer ouch.

Thanks @krissy and everyone else... All I can suggest for your friends is to stay as positive as possible... It's very hard at times when the side efeects make you crook and want to give up... But what else is there.
Don't give in!

I think it was something similar, basically they rebreak the nose (pretty sure they hit you with a wooden paddle). I think doctors become surgeons because they have a nasty streak. They then bore out the bone in the nasal cavity, probably with a sterilised Milwaukee drill, and pack it with cotton padding to slow the bleeding. The ppadding goes back into the throat and is a bit irritating when you wake. They then reset the septum. Not a great feeling in recovery but pretty dosed up on pain meds. When they remove the cotton wadding it "tickles" a tad. But that first burst of fresh cold air through the nose is amazing - must be a bit like the first breath you take when you are born! Breathing becomes normal again pretty quickly.

You're bringing back memories when I went into hospital to have my surfer's ear done, that was not nice, they cut behind the ear and fold it over so they can drill the boney growth in your ear canal out and then sew it back up, new nothing about it while I was under but the recovery was nasty think that was when I bought my 1st bottle of Jack Daniels and thankfully my ear went back to normal and not have 1 looking like an elephant's.

Compared to the big battles a few forumers have fronted my issue is small fish, but Iam after some advice

About six months ago I was playing golf and half through my golf swing I hit the floor like a bag of spuds. As it turned out I ripped my meniscus at the root. I had a MRI and was told it was a grade 4 rip and due to my age 71 outside physo there is not much that can be done. I have been to physio and doing my exercises but six months on Iam still struggling. Iam back playing golf but it’s a real struggle, can’t do my other sport kayaking because I can’t get out of the kayak. My other problems I am starting to pack on the pounds due to lack of exercise

Anyway has anyone got any suggestions, my GP advised against seeing a knee specialist. Anyone recommend a good knee doc around the inner west

I recently faced a conundrum concerning running etiquette. I still run 6 days a week and while running I came upon two young ladies running in front of me dressed in two piece running attire. They appeared to be cruising and running within themselves. I hung back about 25 metres to avoid being a perve. I also didn't want to be a dick by overtaking them. I had a sense both could blow me away if I tried to overtake them. The solution of course was to run across four lanes of traffic, dodge the traffic and run on the even grass verge on the other side. The solution was so simple!

After watching this interview with Joan Rivers I dislocated my night cap and my wife thought I was bleeding but I'd just spilt the red wine on the sheets. This will make all your niggling injuries go away.
