Gus says nothing without an agenda.I actually think Gould is talking us up basically saying that we should make the 8, so that when we don't it looks like we've underachieved in the hope that Galvin gets frustrated again (like last year) and looks to go elsewhere. Gus just planting the seed early.
The roosters are going to unravel shortly. Doubtful they’ll be attractive for him. He willI personally think Galvin will stay with the club once he sees how Luai operates and we are winning a lot more than losing. Sadly I think it will be Latu who heads off.
I’m certainly interested to see how the two dominant voices interact…Luai was able to temper his enthusiasm next to cleary but now he’s top dog with a 19yo who will be itching to call the shots.Leaving or not, I'm very excited to see how playing next to Luai enhances his game!
I think with another pre season and Luai steering the ship, plus a much improved forward pack, Galvin could really take it up a level this year
He'll have so much more freedom and attacking opportunity and I can't wait to see what he does with it
Galvin and Luai play two different styles and Galvin is most certainly not trying to be Cleary either so I think they will simply play off each other. The second trial probably provided an inkling as to what is likely to happen. There were times when the halves slid across in attack as the play moved laterally across the paddock keeping the edge combinatiosn together and also a few times where Galvin would sweep around in a fullback type move.I’m certainly interested to see how the two dominant voices interact…Luai was able to temper his enthusiasm next to cleary but now he’s top dog with a 19yo who will be itching to call the shots.
Maybe Gus should be training with Paul Kent to achieve a higher level, above 21 not out of the question.A dozen frothies - his training was light on!

I think the key takeaway is that we won't be playing a left and right side half they will react to what they see opening in front of them as opposed to a conflict of calls. It may be a bit clunky at first but it will come together the longer they play. I have no doubt that Luai will be prioritised over Galvin, but the X factor is probably Api at 9 as he reeds the play well and will make decisions from there as to who gets priority service.
That will be exciting to watch as the combinations gel. We have real potential to deliver points if we get the lines right and AD (in the short term) can keep his head in the game. In the fullness of time, with Galvin's fitness, I can see a sweep involving both him and Bula outside of Romey being able to produce a four on two opportunity from 40 out.
Our biggest issue isn't the conflict of two dominant voices in attack; it will be our ability to defend. I have concerns about the fragility of our edge defence with the fit centre combinations we can currently field.
One thing I know about Gould… he is a slimy, sneaky snake and whatever comes out of his mouth is ultimately to the detriment of a club and the benefit of the Dogs…Is there a chance Gould wants us to re-sign Galvin because he wants to get Latu? Remember Gould visited Latu’s brother in gaol. I wouldn’t put it past Gould to be playing chess whilst everyone else is playing checkers.
People like Gould often use their pulpits to tell good players from shit clubs that theyd be better served to leave them. Then get their own clubs to put offers in, using their contacts, influence and perceived authority to entice them over.I'm sure there are other people involved within rugby league organisations that have a role in the media.
I think Brandy does some work with panthers, Billy with Qld/storm, Flanagan I think used to be a commentator while doing assistant coach duties. Even our ex Chairman had a role with SEN.
Gould doesn't even need a role in the media to have an influence.
I've listened to his podcast without fail for 3 years straight. He's egotistic and hates to be proven wrong but his rugby league administration intellect is second to none (at least in the media) and his track record proves it.
NRL cares about being visible and Dogs care about winning. Gould might help Dogs win a signing or two but neither NRL or Dogs would have an issue. Any other club whinging about Gould needs to grow up IMO.
Play on.
Gould was the only one saying Madge was hard done by…but he was only worried about us being competition to sign ciraldoPeople like Gould often use their pulpits to tell good players from shit clubs that theyd be better served to leave them. This creates an unfair playing field and thats why conflicts of interest are a bad thing.
What's stopping our recruitment team to do the same? What's stopping Richo from doing a podcast with SEN and having that influence as well?People like Gould often use their pulpits to tell good players from shit clubs that theyd be better served to leave them. They could try, however there is only so many positions of prominence that affords the individual the opportunity to do this. Free to air appointments with a large audience supplied through a national network coverage is the perfect situation to employ said strategy. What's stopping our recruitment team to do the same? I don't think it's an unfair playing field. I just find that it's a fair advantage depending on how you use it.
That is on song, interesting how different teams play that though. I played in several different systems travelling with work and there were a couple of different combinations of how that would play out. In most systems a dominant ball player had the call and usually that was one of the halves. However, in a very similar system the hooker could over ride the half (so I guess in reality he had the "boss call"). This would only ever occur when the half could not see a clear oportunity on the other side of the ruck. You know this line
“Back in the day “
We had 1 player have boss call
Meaning know matter what plays had been planned if he saw something his call would override everything and he’d get the ball.
When things didn’t work out don’t worry the coach knew who to talk to.
here fishy fishy fishy....Galvin > Luai. Just dont think Galvin will get 4 premierships. Luai. Right place. Right time.
real what?Just like keeping it real Tuck
