OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

I'm sure there are other people involved within rugby league organisations that have a role in the media.

I think Brandy does some work with panthers, Billy with Qld/storm, Flanagan I think used to be a commentator while doing assistant coach duties. Even our ex Chairman had a role with SEN.

Gould doesn't even need a role in the media to have an influence.

I've listened to his podcast without fail for 3 years straight. He's egotistic and hates to be proven wrong but his rugby league administration intellect is second to none (at least in the media) and his track record proves it.

NRL cares about being visible and Dogs care about winning. Gould might help Dogs win a signing or two but neither NRL or Dogs would have an issue. Any other club whinging about Gould needs to grow up IMO.

Play on.
Gould is an idiot. He sacked Cleary, remember?
He failed 4 years straight in his last coaching gig at the roosters, then Graham Murray immediately got them into the grand final the next season. He sacked Murray for making him look like a goose, then tried to take all the credit when Ricky got them home.
His Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon card now isn't his rugby league knowledge, it's his partnership with Laundy. He's only successful when he has an influential ( cashed up ) supporter.

Arthur Laundy is a pretty smart cookie… can’t see him being manipulated by anyone.

Gould has been smart enough to spend his post playing career at clubs with lots of money and/or a big junior catchment. Bulldogs, Penrith, Roosters, back to Penrith, Warriors (briefly due to COVID) and now back with the Bulldogs. For everyone who lauds him as being the messiah, he has never really take one of the “hard” jobs in rugby league. That’s not to say he’s useless, because he’s clearly not.

That is on song, interesting how different teams play that though. I played in several different systems travelling with work and there were a couple of different combinations of how that would play out. In most systems a dominant ball player had the call and usually that was one of the halves. However, in a very similar system the hooker could over ride the half (so I guess in reality he had the "boss call"). This would only ever occur when the half could not see a clear oportunity on the other side of the ruck.

These guys will have a plan; Luai over Galvin makes sense. Api has the C and dishes out the pill so he may, or may not, have the final call - but either way I have no doubt's that it will be pretty well coordinated. I think anyone taking an option over a Luai call better get points otherwise I'm pretty sure the spray will be explosive!
Agree
I played one year when the hooker had the call , it only lasted about 4 games after both halves and our gun fullback screaming that he took the wrong option to many times.
I think it was a lot harder to get the time to look around and see holes in the defence when you are running to get into dummy half as quick as you can.
So I’m hoping Luai has the boss call over API this year.
With Galvin being to young and excitable at this early stage in his career.

I think that a hooker option depends on the maturity and experience of the guy in the 9. I can't see Api overcalling Luai unless he sees something outstanding. It is all about the trust between half/hooker in that situation. In my experience it worked well because it was very rarely used. If the hooker has the ultimate call and he is using it often then it has been incorrectly delegated.

There were more than a few whispers around as to why Ivan was moved on back then
- And all Gus has done is remained tight lipped and taken the full responsibility for it happening.
Ivan is a nice guy, So he got a bit of a media let off on it.

What's your point? To point out reality?
Walk onto any working environment
- The bloke with all the brains isn't the one up the back digging the holes.

The more I think about his comments the more I think he’s just putting huge pressure on us and making the benji marshall sacking more likely that way Galvin won’t be happy and more likely to hit the open market. Hes a smart operater
All of the goldfish's comments have a motive he's kissing his arse for 1 reason only, to get his claws into him.

You could be right. I think the pressure will be there with all the new signings regardless of his comments. Not his first rodeo.

I’m not sure Galvin is the biggest fan of Benj. He asked for a release when Sheens was sacked and Benji stepped into the top job.

His parents also raised concerns about the quality of coaching when he asked for a release last year.
