LIVE GAME Round 1 vs Knights

Live Game Discussion
Wow Jack Bird was really poor on that second try. No way someone should be able to go back 5m to pick up a ball and still score.
Yes, I thought he did a great job to come across in cover and then he just didn’t tackle him…

Come on man. 45 minutes. I've parked in lots of car parks at events and that was up there with the worst. Admittedly I don't get to Campbelltown often these days .I expected a slight delay but I didn't move at all for 40 minutes. Even turned the car off.
I haven't scrolled back too far, but I'm assuming you are talking about the car park right next to the station.
I made that mistake once, thought I had a great spot until after the game. It was at least 30 mins to get out that day too. Suffice to say It has never happened again.

I must be one of the few who is not overly concerned about the attack. Don't get me wrong, it was putrid, but i think that can be easily fixed.
The halves for us had far less time to do anything given the slow play the balls from us. It's a glaring issue, the lack of urgency to play the ball and has been for years. Fix that and we start to play on the front foot.
The major concern is missed tackles .....we are the worst so far in round 1, and that includes the Cowboys being wiped off the park.

51 missed tackles, hate to say it but that is spoon defence. It's not like the Knights had 70% possession or something either. If they haven't been able to fix it over the last 4 months it hard to see it being fixed in a week.

Every game tackles are missed. It's how and where they were missed + the outcome.

To look at the stat and come to a definitive conclusion oversimplifies things. A bit like saying there's a wage gap between men and women without looking into why.

I mean...we only let in 10 points. By that stat our defence was really strong. What say you?
100% agree. We missed multiple tackles when they scored their

100% agree. We missed multiple consecutive tackles when they scored their try’s. If we miss half those back to back to back to back misses they probably don’t score.
The only reason the scoreline flattered us was Newcastle couldn’t handle the ball or ice the last pass.
Happy if you disagree, your entitled to your opinion.

I think the missed tackles are bad too. But we scrambled much better. Too many teenagers out there for me. Maybe a lot less with API abd Bula back. Certainly need an upgrade on Seyfarth and for Pole and Sam F to stand up in defence
Couldn’t agree more. Scrambling was good but I don’t think that’s a sustainable defensive system.

I was happy with the effort overall just fundamentals let us down again

Yet they're only a fringe eight team
You can copy paste this many times this year I reckon
They get more credit for that than they should - they limped into the 8 on the collapse of a couple other teams.
People trying to make them sound better than they are because they played like dogshit and we still never looked like beating them

I say, if you want to let the score line keep you warm at night - go right ahead.
The commentator literally said “Newcastle score on the verge of f*cking it All up again” they left a shit ton of points out there… and had plenty of calls go against them.
Best queue next weeks excuses - you won’t be able to use that one again

I seriously wonder how we have any fans left... I mean how much of this can we take
Never in a quarter century have we been a defensive team... It's what premierships are built on.
Scrambling isn't defence
Agree, no it’s not but it’s a sign that the guys are willing to support each other and we haven’t seen that for a few seasons.

Benji said there were key moments that lost us the game, but when asked to elaborate he walked out of the post game presser?
He also mentioned “that’s the reason we signed Luai on $1.2m.
Anyone know what was the reason?
What I can see is friction developing.
OK, nobody’s going to be happy after Knights and the ref were begging us to grab the 2 points, but I think Benji was pissed with himself for hobbling Luai.
Luai reads the game better and has more skill than Galvin to take advantage of opportunities.
I hope Richo has already spoken to Benji about this.

Taken out of context. My point was about Skelton. Not the team.

Was that because he was 20m in field when Ponga through the ball out to best? It’s like everyone except for bird watched the ball go over the sideline; oh wait. It didn’t. Bird was wrong footed but I can’t fault him for his effort to cover. Had our winger, centre and fullback be there also it may have been different.

51 missed tackles, 7 line breaks conceded, yet 2 tries conceded. Put that into context.
