OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

My left field thoughts. Plan A.
1. Make Galvin the 1/2. Reason being he gets to touch the ball regularly. his wish list. But told to off load to supports or Luai. Luai is more creative and a much better tactical kicker.
2. Galvin loves running, so gave him the task of following the forwards in the middle for an offload. This saves Bula following the ruck who can now be utilised by Luai as the extra man in the backline.
Plan B: Luai came here on the promise of the 1/2 position. Galvin the incumbent 5/8, BUT....... if it doesn't work out for whatever reason,(given another couple of weeks to test), there needs to be some serious discussions with the coach as to why not?
4. Not overly impressed in Latu's performance last weekend at 1/2, but I do think 5/8 is his go.
That said Luai at 1/2, Latu at 5/8 and Galvin in the centres. This gives Galvin a opportunity to observe what is needed from the halves in the passing, straightening the attack, deft kicking aspect of the game. Things he lacks at the moment. Benji needs to very persuasive is this regard and hopefully Galvin can learn and not be the happy puppy that just wants to play?
Comments please.

gotta Plan C?

I hate it when people say it’s only 1 game …. But this is the first time Galvin and JL they have played together …give them 10 games at least …

what are your expectations? I’m just hoping they don’t start 1-7 and season over by May
I think you, me and the hole forum are praying they pull their finger out, makes you ponder the question what did they do all summer, leave out the attacking drills, the next game is a good test of where we are at parra were poor we should be able to exploit their weaknesses, expectations doubt we can make the 8 still too many holes in the roster.

the attack looked very inept …praying it’s just one game 🙏

For every example like that there’s 2 or 3 showing him urgently demanding the ball, having no plan at all and running across field where he gets caught by the defence. This confuses everyone and the next play is just a simple hit up with a dominant tackle as no one is following any organised structure.
You have to earn the right to play eyes up footy. You don’t do it every touch.
Don’t forget both dummy halves are young and inexperienced that passed him the ball every time he called for it (agree overplayed)
With the return of API that will stop.
I’m expecting a lot better game management now one of the best dummy half’s in the game is back
in our team.
TDS is learning his craft lets not expect to much to early in the game management part.

The 1 thing I really would have liked to see Galvin to work on in the off season was his speed off the mark / over 5 metres .....think we can put an X next to that

Its insane to be cranky we threw away two points?
We had everything going for us, we had the game and blew it

But yeh relax, theres always next week, next month ...next year....its just the same shit UNTIL we see otherwise consistently, which hasnt happened in over a decade

I'll relax when I see it
My optimism has gone already...

I am just trying to work out, with Newcastle offering Dylan brown 13m over 10 years... Should we be competing for Galvin or see if Fletcher Sharpe is wanting a go?

Knights will persist with Sharpe I reckon. It’s Brown they have signed to be their HB I feel. Big season of development for him but he is essentially doing a Luai 1 season later.

He’s not a halfback. Unlike Luai who grew another leg last year when moved to halfback, Brown floundered at 7 when Moses was out.
I think knights have a bit of a luxury with Ponga in their side.
When they can repeatedly make the 8 with Cogger and Gamble I think replacing either with Brown is a huge improvement.
Brown is big, quick, physical, great defender and a good kicker. He can play halfback, he was a 7 in his juniors, he’ll be a 7 again.
