Not sure on the legalities, but it could all be solved if the NRL stipulates that to have a contract with a get out clause, the club must have an equal option to terminate in the contract. The game is slowly devolving into the NFL contract wise. As a Philly fan, I remember years ago Donavan McNabb signed a five year extension, 20 million guaranteed (Or some crazy figure like that). The next season he was playing for the Redskins. Contracts have always been only worth the paper they are printed on, but it’s getting to a new level. Contracts have clauses coming out of their arse. There is zero guarantee that Brown sees out 10 years at Newcastle. There’s no way. Even Luai has them with us. And if by some miracle we retain Galvin, he will too. I think I’d be able to cop it if when clubs announced signings they make mention of these things. I get the details are sensitive and we don’t need to know all of the ins and outs, but it’s extremely misleading to announce “player X has signed with the club till at least the end of 2032, giving off the belief that it’s set in stone, only for a year or two later, the club turns around and says “Oh yeah, about that contract…”
Pretty obvious he didn't fit in with the Eastern Suburbs culture, he's a westie and he'd walk around looking like one. Politis probably didn't like that and used the 'we're going in a different direction' excuse to punt him.Absolutely baffling.
Only thing that makes sense is that he was ostracised for not getting along with the boys there. He is big on fitness, family and god.
That obviously doesnt align with the rank and file of that joint.
Bro said he'd rather Buke Lrooks instead of 4x Premiership winning Luai LOLHe doesn't lead any statistics in NRL or even close to it. Tries, try assists, etc. He's done all he has in a great penrith system picking his moments when on the front foot. On the back foot, which he contributed to on the weekend, he failed in the crunch moments. I'm prepared to say I'd prefer to have Luke Brooks right now who can actually win a game as opposed to luai who is simply not a match winner
It’s a sh?t show no doubt about itGeez I wish I could enjoy a fricken year of football without having to hear about what may be or may not be two years out. P’s me off massively
It’s like another poster said- it’s becoming like the NFL but with the player managers holding all the cards rather than the team owners.
Worst thing in the world for clubs and supporters was the introduction of the nov 1 thing and then the addition of grub managers. Good for the players I suppose but terrible for the clubs supporters.
Gone are the days where you supported a club for the players and the club. now I support the club only.
I don’t get attached to any player any longer. Not worth the angst. If it’s a business to them and they have no loyalty that’s fine. It’s a business now to me as well.
In the nfl, yank friends of mine are used to it. They know and like a few key players (qb etc) but they know most of the team will be traded away well before most contracts are complete so they don’t care.
I’m starting to feel the same.
Absolutely baffling.

What is the "someone we want" doesn't want us ??Lets see how our season progresses, and if it is shaping up poorly we have no chance of retaining Galvin, leaving aside the $$ issue....We have to tick both boxes to retain him
If thats the situation, then we offer to release Galvin early in exchange for someone we want...
Dont just give him away like we did with IPAPs and many others
.....and if the season aint going so great,we'll throw in our coach for free..!
Maybe Payten if Nanai comes with him
This is what I would call an alarmist position. This will play out the exact same way Turdesco played us out….Galvin is as good as gone…
Spartan I'm of the camp if Galvin wanted to stay he already would have upgraded. He would be getting a massive payrise this and next year. Other thing is are we sure he's going to stay a 5/8. If he's not nearly a million a year is a lot of coin for a backrower or lock. If he is our future 5/8 permanently in the clubs eyes, great go crazy to keep him, if not let's just get some game time into Latu, the sooner he builds combinations with Luai the better.Richo and the Tigers have the $$$ War Chest,
Im certain we will match or even exceed any offers.
Fortunately Latu is signed for longer than Galvin. I also trust Richo wouldn't allow this to happen we don't have dumb and dumber running things anymore.Gonna be the most Tigers thing ever when we lose both Galvin and Latu and end up with Sullivan as our 6
Or Realist...take your pickThis is what I would call an alarmist position.
Talk is cheap he's had years to see what's going on in this area and chooses not to act, why isn't he pulling the finger out and doing something about it what's that old saying, oh it's too hard.V’landys on Fox (heavy hitters segment) the other night was pretty honest about some of the game’s problems. He talked a bit about the challenges for lower sides attracting players and how the salary cap isn’t working how they want it to, ie: pushing the marquee players to bottom clubs. It was pretty refreshing to see him be up front about it and not sweep it under the carpet. What they might do about it though???
He won't ever tie Freddy's shoelacesGalvin will be one of the best in the years to come. Still under 20.
He is a fittler, Laurie Daley type player.
This is more than just hype.
