You are right, this contract is as much about optics as it is about keeping Galvin. If we manage the narrative and he leaves we won't get the "how could the Tigers let him go" punishment as bad in the media. If we let Moses string us along the media will have a field day. Not that personally I could give a firetruck what the media have to add; however, it is the perception of other players that could potentially be on the market that we have to be concerned about.
I think moving Klem on early saved some face for us otherwise the end could have played out poorly in potential recruit's minds. If he is performing at a level where he deserves a spot in FG then he should have one; that is what professional sport is about. However, if Latu can fill the role just as well he should be moved to somewhere that better supports the club. That could be in Ressies but could easily be at 13 or 3 - once he signs he has done his development dash - that doesn't mean we should fluch his talent for 12 months just to be vindictive.

I don’t see the point in playing him in Reggie’s. If he signs elsewhere he continues to playing 1st grade (subject to performance) or we let him go. Anything else will just create unnecessary media attention and become a distraction.

I like Johns, but he is very careful with what he says and it is almost always pro-player or the "right thing to say".
He likes to be liked and create content that feels good for player and fan.
