The proof is in the pudding . He’s far more focused on his highlight reel than winning footy games . And that’s been apparent for a while now . When luai plays we win . I’d be shutting the f up , and realising .
I once coached u7s and i started to teach the kids how to offload and pass the ball . Nothing major . Just how to use their teammates in space during a game . Mainly because the guys are just giving it to 2 or 3 kids all game , they were demanding it to be honest , and most kids weren’t getting a real go . The idea was when you pass the ball to each other you score together and tries become your tries as you scored it together . Not “my” try.
The kids loved it . A lot of laughing and giggling during games . They dropped the ball a bit . Meh! They were having a lot of fun . And we were winning .
After a couple of games one of the dad of the kid who scored all the tries comes up to me , I think we lost a game for once , and he’s pissed off asking why I teach the kids offloading and playing footy . I tell him , it’s more fun , it looks amazing , and every time score there’s 3 or 4 kids running behind him scoring the try with them .
He says . You give the ball to my son , we score every time . We win . Thats the gameplan . I laughed at him and walked away . I’m reminded of this , whenever people around me talk about stage parents.
