OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

And people still cheered him on when he played Origin. Made me sick.
Its not their fault. They support NSW. You are a Qu
Reality is whilst Galvin will be very special he’s not there yet, Doueihi has more experience and is simply better atm. There is no need for Galvin to be first in line anymore. He is still a great back up and we shouldn’t release him unless we receive a gun player or a young gun with buckets of potential in return.
Galvin is already special. Hence the circus.

That’s the silver lining. If we can get a player of equal value to the contract he will sign, then let him go. Not getting my hopes up about that though.
It will be the true test of our improved head office operating model. The former mob routinely cocked these situations up.

Theres a deal to be done..and Richo is just the person to negotiate on our behalf
Hes cooked
..and NRL needs to take a stance in this
WTs need to hold the line. The next schoolboy star managed by Moses and contracted to WTs who catches the eye of another club would be in a similar position. There is no adequate compensation for losing a player of this calibre. Our $ outlay is modest so keep him at our club as depth for Luai and Fainu.

Reserve grade or nothing for me.

Richo and probably Benji are pushing the "we only want players who want to play for the Tigers" and fair enough, so reserve grade or even nothing for Galvin

Is it in the rules, to ask a club to give us money so they can have him now, bit like the transfer system in European soccer?
We have money, we want a 2rf

Really just shows that despite the revenue, the NRL is still a mum & dad run small business.

AFL: draft & trade period
Soccer: trade period & transfer fees
NFL NBA NHL: draft & trade period

V’landys: it’s all too hard, will deal with a blow up every year that we can sweep under the carpet during the offseason.

Simple solution: players are locked into contracts that they sign. The contract can be transferred to another club with agreement with the length & remuneration as it was at the time it was signed.

Players that a club wants to release can be released at any time with the club having to pay out all entitlements in the current contract which is counted towards the salary cap (as it is at the moment).

Has to be state of origin quality imo.. if a team wants a #6 that bad, you're going to give us what we want. 350k is buckleys for an extra season of depth in KOE. We don't need to rush into it and can literally name our price/player, if the market is as hot as everyone is suggesting

I can’t recall us ever being in a stronger negotiating position as a club.

Fully.

We knew his departing was a death-knell to our future, which is also why it was so painful.
I never cheered the guy after that. Haven't even watched a Roosters match since (unless they played us).

But with Galvin leaving there isn't the same foreboding as when Teddy left. Sure he could be great, but there's no feeling of impending doom. If anything, by the way management have handled this, our future is even brighter.

God no. Galvin isn’t a pimple on Teddy’s sack in terms of output that both gave the club. Teddy was a megastar. Galvin still has a way to go.

In my opinion Teddy was a certainty as a future Australian fullback when he left.

I think Galvin will be one of the best halves in the game at some stage, but that’s still a fair way off.

It’s important we make it known we ain’t letting him go for peanuts.
