A very good question Tucker, and you’re right to highlight the seemingly lack of interest from the club to want to hear the answers. We didn’t contribute to it, we created it.
The club constantly talked him up, fans on here…and I’m going to say 95% of fans on here, fell in line and believed we had a future immortal on the books. He was spoken about as being a superstar well before he got any where near earning that moniker.
Listening to his grievances when we think he has been treated so well is a very important step towards not just understanding the situation and putting together a strategy to combat it, but also an opportunity for self reflection and lessons learned analysis.
The most important question that needs to be answered is why is this kid, who we treated like a mini god, so hell bent on leaving this club? A follow-up is are there others feeling this same way?
We’ve seen players like Stef and Blorey leave for less money, and to live in such a hole like Melbourne?
In a highly competitive environment it’s natural to have a few personality clashes, and Richo may have got to grievance #2 and decided it was all crap and didn’t want to hear any more offensive remarks about his coach? But it’s not a good look is it?
Richo is really fired up about this, I think mid last year he said quite firmly..we will not be dictated to by player managers. That statement itself gives an insight into the predicament faced by clubs.
