I’d go $600k for KPP. He’s got all the physical attributes to be a very good player but hasn’t been able to put it together yet. Whether that’s on him or the Knights or a combination who knows. With Luai on board (and possibly Benji) this is the first year players we’ve purchased have played to their potential so there is hope we can get a better version of KPP.

I reckon it’s no chance KPP signs anywhere for 600k.
I’d be happy with him at that price also, but I think his asking price would be 700-750k which I believe is a bit too much to hope he starts running the ball hard and tackling hard.
But NRL quality back rowers are not growing on trees unfortunately, so we might have to take a chance on him at whatever his cost is.

For mine, on the cheeky end - 500/550k.

Likely, if he lands, I'd say it's for no less than 650/700k. Unfortunately.

I can't see him or his management walking back too far from his current contract value, given that he is in (somewhat) demand and the cap will likely rise significantly over the course of his next contract.

I think he would do wonders in our current team and would have no problems with the 600-650k but people also need to remember Richo has not overpaid for any of his signings and knows there worth.
I trust him 100% and if he pays 700k it will be worth it.

absolutely agree, but just looking at full-time contracted players. he's much better defensively than LB.

They would be great additions for us The Chad, but we can only potentially recruit what is available. The Sharks have those 2 under contract and I don’t think they have any intentions of letting them go.
Billy Burns would only cost us approximately 200-300k has plenty of size and much more mobility than anyone in our current squad, so would offer a point of difference and at his cost is only really a fringe player who would only play NRL when we have injuries or if his form is too good to ignore. Not forgetting he is off contract for 2026.
In addition to him we still need to take a risk on an edge back rower who can offer us plenty of X-Factor, the only 2 available are KPP or David Fifita. I reckon we would need to pay 750k to land KPP which seems a bit high and at best the Titans night throw in 200k for Fifita which would still mean he would cost us 800k which again sounds a bit high, but it’s either take a risk on one of them and pay the asking price or stick with what we already have, which is not much.

A Romey link too. Came up through the Panthers system & played a bit of NRL in the same team as Romey in 2020 before he went to StG en route to Sharks.

A depth prop with 50-100 NRL games for a short contract mid season

And then convince Taylan May to take a cup/t&t/Dev contract for the rest of this season upgrading to top 30 next year.

All it says is that someone (we) have offered more than the knights, doesn’t mean the knights have offered $750 as the new contract. Could be $450 and we are offering $550 🤷

I still don't understand where on earth you've pulled this theory from.

I'll ask you again, why do you think the Roosters are in the running to sign Kai Pearce-Paul? "Because they make boneheaded decisions" isn't an answer.

Also , why speculate about the Roosters in this Forum ? Obviously the poster was signalling that he suspects us as being the Sydney NRL club so why even mention the Roosters on this forum .. I mean it is possible but hardly relevant to this thread

Is KPP worth 700k? no. It's an over-inflated salary for an average to good 2nd rower. What is the cost of NOT signing him though?

We are one injury away from Sukkar or Porter starting on the edge. Sam Fainu looks gassed and it wouldn't surprise me if he broke down mid season. We are desperately short there. We can hold off and see what else happens but what if we get to the same point next year and no better than KPP has come on the market?

Give me KPP on 650-700k and I take it and run.
