OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

For a club that is so rubbish are there young players that have bigger profiles than ours for very little output?
Is it any wonder they are ahead of themselves before their time. Three peat wooden spoon club and yet we dominate the media.

I'll be glad when this whole thing is over and the guys who are committed to the struggle can focus on the challenge again.

Also be good when those in the Galvin camp stop pretending to be supporters on a forum and get back to being fathers and managers etc.

The kid is going to need it as the way it has been conducted has turned him from the brightest star in the game loved by other fan bases to a supposed self centered brat. These things stick in this game and any poor form from here on out with Galvin will come with added criticism and doubts about his ability to buy in.

Good luck kid, now piss off. We don't want players like you and will move forward regardless.

That’s how the game is played.
This bloke debuted in 2023. He has played 21 games. By the end of his contract that could be 50+. A certified first grader turning 22. Going to market this year does hold a large element of risk for him. His resume isn’t stellar yet. Out of those 21 games, he has only won 7 times.
The fact he is prepared to risk his future to possibly leave is concerning. That’s what management need to work on.
He has been exposed to the NRL due to the foresight of WTs and Marshall. This also applies to Galvin. It ends of up biting the club because our younger players are on display at a time when the NRL is expanding and quality players are in demand. I am old enough to have watched both Marshall and Farah debut for WTs and both exhibited great skill and tactical awareness as youngsters. They also demonstrated great loyalty to WTs.

100%. He has a career to look after as well.
However that won’t matter if he decides to leave. He’ll be labelled ungrateful. He’ll be abused, as will his family.
It’s the way this fangroup operates.
Anyone that tries to make sense of the circumstances will be cop it as well.
Meanwhile, the club who has managed to lose another local junior young gun will be sympathised with and get away with stuffing up yet another retention negotiation.
Mate, he is not ready for first grade, not for 80 mins week in week out yet anyway, they are trying to develop him ( exactly like you said they should have done with Galvin) .. anyway Tallyn has never said he wants to leave , so this is al speculation anyway.. as far as we know they have a plan for him that he is on board with.. the interview I saw him actually quoted in said exactly that..

Out of the 21 games how many have been for less than 30 minute stints?

He should be focusing on playing longer minutes first. Api is the much more complete player as it stands

Those kids both debuted far too early as did others like Matamua, Lauli’i etc Way, way ahead of time. It could have had detrimental affects on their careers, I find it strange that they should be thanking Benji for their first grade starts. They were always going to make it through the proper pathways.
As for Benji and Robbie…They were loyal because they ran the joint. As soon as this wasn’t the case anymore, they both left.

He can only play what time the coach allocates to him.
Far too often he is left sitting on the bench whilst Api is out on his feet missing heaps of tackles and too buggered to scoot…that isn’t his fault.

I’m not talking right now. I’m saying he’ll be right to go for the start of season 2027 which is when any new contract with us will be commencing.

Maybe the coach doesn’t trust his footballing ability just yet?

Plenty of younger players in different systems bide their time and learn their craft in lower grades, it’s why exposing them to first grade so early ends up hurting us in the long run

The NRL will rubberstamp it as being perfectly legal and legitimate despite it's very dubious appearance. Many people will not believe it but nothing will be done except a few people will be smiling afterwards
Stinks , his manager is loosing a mostly likely 20% of 250 k x 4 years so he’s loosing about $ 200 k on the deal. Na no way , shonky deal coming up

We are on the same page mate…I don’t think he should have debuted in 23 or 24 for that matter.
This club chose to do that.

last year he was hailed the messiah, just because how he has left the club does not change he is and will be a very very good football player
You're right... great footballer but he is a crap human being with no integrity.
It's a big problem in today's society when people use an excuse like "bullying" to get what they want. I hate bullying and here's a link to look into the right reasons why people should be taking it more seriously.

Perhaps I'm viewing it through my own lens but Marshall and Farah were two of the most outstanding footballers produced NRL wide. Just because you happen to play 5/8 or hooker for WTs, doesn't mean you are anywhere near as good as these two regardless of when you make your debut. I recall Marshall and Farah making sacrifices for the club.

There is a lot of hurt among supporters about the Galvin saga.
Because of the way he was given the red carpet treatment , he positioned above IMO more talented kids like the large boys and Fainu .
He was bought when no one wanted him , he has had endless resources pumped into him only for him to turn his back on all that .
And ultimately how the fudge would a 19 year old , a former Stadium Australia assistant manager , and his family to be honest , know if Benjis coaching works or doesn’t work .
And I refuse to accept the opinion of a dickhead from North Queensland , who has never played in these junior districts , doesn’t know the how important the tigers are to the Balmain district , and wests are to the Campbelltown district , and the history especially in wests of juniors having their heads turned before anybody can reasonably assess anything .
And the fact that at the start of the year the guy was all about how Galvin wasn’t good and we were all going to have egg on our face when he left , just proves he’s only on here to stir shit .
He’s the ultimate loser . Imagine going on an opposing teams forum day in and day out just to argue about stupid shit , to stir up people , who grew up with this club in their dna. Who’s family played in the districts , who wore the jerseys when they were younger , who went to the AGMs to vote the merger , who take thier kids to games (the guy has never been to a tigers game ) .
He’s the equivalent of a fan yelling abusive shit from the nose bleed sections . He has zero skin in the game .
And it frustrates the hell out of me that he deliberately pulls on the strings of guys on here , to stir them up .
I’ve been pretty consistent in my opinion , Latu is a better footballer , it like Jedi keeps pointing out , his body is a real concern . That could just be growing pains . I’ve never felt emotional one way or the other about him , because frankly I think he’s replaceable . Especially at 6 . If you’re going to tell me he’s going to turn into Isaiah Yeo 2.0 , and a leader amongst men , with his current attitude , I seriously doubt it .
Purely because he doesn’t seem to get teams . You can tell by his history in the juniors with swapping clubs . I mean it’s worked for him , he’s where he wanted to be , but to me , I’ve always said he screams Jackson Hastings more than he screams Isaiah Yeo or Scott Hill .
And for a mil a season we would have put a big anchor around our neck , and empowered an entitled kid and family , and their already zero Fs given manager , to even more destabilising control around the team .
The issue with the original boys club wasn’t that the boys club existed . It exists at every club . The issue was the wrong people had control , and were making decisions in their best interests not the clubs. Like overweight Benji , had a huge ego problem at the time . He needed to fall off his perch , to understand what I’m saying is true to its core .
He’s a great leader now because of this . Like I keep saying the youth is wasted on the young , and I’m very sure in one way or another Galvin will regret the way this turned out .
I honestly wish him well , but the tribalism of this game will never allow this stigma to leave him . People still talk about Moses in the same way . Teddy gets a pass for most because everyone understood . Woods also is another who every time that guy speaks people want to chuck rocks at him . Why ? Because much like Galvin he was given the keys to the castle , and rightly or wrongly , he spat in the clubs face . He says oh it was because of all the bullshit at board level , which may or may not be true , but you can tell that he has huge regrets with the way he left the club , and even on a personal level it pretty torpedoed his career .
I’m sure Galvin is hearing all kinds of grass is greener stories from the Moses family , but man , have a look at Aaron Woods and you see a very clear situation of how it could all go very wrong .
Anyways . Just my rant on the whole situation. No hate for kid at all . Just that this behaviour is taboo in sport . Doesn’t even happen in EPL , or European football , the most cut throat money driven sport in the world . Which tells you something . There’s unwritten rules to this shit . And Galvin has broken one of the big ones . Now it’s time to face the consequences .
