Just trying to point something out …. I’m no fan of the dinosaurs on the board at HBG/Wests … OR Balmain ….

I would love new owners … just being real that I don’t believe it will happen anytime soon…

HBG/ Wests … ie the same people … are not giving it up …

Let’s all face it, it doesn’t matter who owns/controls the Wests Tigers. If it was being run properly and we as a club didn’t have a disastrous 12-13 years and it’s looking like we are still counting. This subject would be a non issue.

Since the NRL owns the licensing to “WESTS TIGERS” and as some have stated that they can’t see HBG relinquishing the ownership to a private party. Can the NRL force an ownership change or even take it back themselves when the licence agreement is up for renewal?

I would doubt the NRL can just “take back” something that has value like an NRL club license

I have seen in American Sports their leagues force owners to sell the team … but this seems to be done when the Owner has legal issues … not just because the team is managed poorly

I would like to know from a legal perspective.

Why would they? Because a few podcasters don't like how the leagues club is run? Is there any other reason?

Where have you been since 2011 or 2012? I’ve seen monkeys in a zoo more organised than the Wests Tigers football club side and management. If your happy with a participation certificate well I for one am not. I’m in it to win it. I don’t expect to win the comp every year but I expect our beloved Tigers to be competitive most seasons.

Your talking about the Wests Tigers football club. Why would the NRL force the owners to relinquish ownership. That's what the discussion is about.

I did a little research a while ago and the NRL still own the brands ie Wests Tigers, Wests Magpies and Balmain Tigers, and it would only be if the brand equity were being mis managed to the point of requiring intervention( or severe financial issues as well).
Now I personally think all the above brand names are being mis managed but obviously the League don’t see it that way. There reasoning must be “ just normal wear and tear”.

I'd say the club had been mismanaged but that's not a concern of the NRL unless they can't make their financial commitments.
The NRL would be happy we're owned by an organisation that is unlikely to go broke. They've had problems with private owners at Gold Coast, Newcastle and New Zealand and wouldn't allow private ownership of Perth. They wont be forcing HBG to sell.

Games are still being watched. Tigers stories are clickbait. Young and old players have somewhere to play.

We are very valuable for the NRL.

Don’t get too overconfident TF coz strategic plans can throw up a variety of options.
And we’re not valuable if we’re a joke ! And sometimes that’s what we are to a wider viewing audience than the Forum.

guessing its in the NRL s rights to refuse a renewal . The clubs sold their soles about 10 / 15 years ago ,for a welfare payment once a year. Poor silly them
