Can’t see Garner coming here now after KPP… need a 13

There are few few good 13’s about and none on the market.
Good teams need plenty of speed on at least one edge, KPP looks a player with plenty of ability, but does not possess genuine speed and neither does Samuela Fainu.
If we are to develop a team with good balance we need the injection of speed in our forward pack as well as out wide and I think Benji/Richo are finally realising that.

Wests Tigers supporters may think they are seeing double next season as the club weighs up a move for one of the hottest properties in Papua New Guinea rugby league – a 23-year-old who has been described as a Jarome Luai lookalike.

Gairo Voro has been on the radar of NRL clubs in recent seasons, but it is understood that Tigers recruitment boss Shannon Gallant went on a recent trip to PNG where he cast his eye over Voro.

Voro has been singled out by Hunters coach Paul Aiton as a rising star for PNG. He is likely to be one of the players that PNG build their club around when they join the NRL in 2028.

He may get the chance to taste some premiership action before then as the Tigers join the queue of clubs keeping an eye on his progress in the Queensland Cup.

I wonder if the potential discussions with Cobbo are the reason for the delay in extending Toa. Or perhaps the hardball/delay with bringing Taylan in...... Cobbo has a higher ceiling than both...just needs to be focussed and motivated.

Haha 😜 you are such a pleasure to converse with. I know the history which is why I asked again, just stirring ya.
Fair enough he gets a ring and all that comes with it as he played plenty of games throughout the season. But GF hero or something was the headline. That did not make me think of Luke. Who is a fine first grader.

I feel though if he is looking to leave Penrith he is obviously looking for an upgrade, and not a player I would go too big on.

We’ll see …there is nothing to suggest yet they plan to move Samuela who was their player of the year last year …Garner used to play here …i don’t think he is anyone to get excited about just because he is available

Penrith may be on the verge of losing another grand final hero.Sport Confidential understands that the management of Luke Garner – who has another year remaining on his deal with the Panthers – were given permission to have a quiet look around in recent weeks.

It is understood Parramatta were among the clubs interested in the versatile backrower but Garner looks set to move to a rival after they tabled a three-year deal for his services.

Garner has played 39 games for the Panthers over the past three seasons and was a member of the sides that won 2023 and 2024 premierships.The 29-year-old shapes as a handy pick-up for another NRL club given his versatility – he has played second row, lock and centre in his NRL career.

Look Luke has done well and he would fit into our 2RF spot. That said, I would really want a deal in our favour and see some on-field OOMPH.

We do need him, but he does seem a little bit of a desperation signing. Definately not the best of the Penrith pack.

Penrith's rebuild is NOT our problem.

Samuela was a middle forward most of his Jnr/developing years so it's not a stretch to move him to lock

Then he’d want to become an Australian citizen first to get Albos tax breaks and take full advantage of all the incentives.

The minimum wage in png is less than AUD $11 a day, a bit over $4k per annum.

Let’s say he hits average nrl wage, he’s on close to 90 times the minimum, the Aussie equivalent of $4.5m.

It’s probably unsafe for him in Port Moresby, so him and his family may have to live in the NRL compound or build one and hire security.

Anyway, we will need to look after him properly here. Keep him away from Satan and from NRL gangsta life.

Need a translator as well I’d fancy.

Get the translator to impress upon him that we are the greatest rugby league club in history and all good things like that.

This is why we’d be looking at Goro Voro JR, probably be a Dev or T&T and exempt from the Supplementary cap.
