Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Blind Freddy can see the Bulldogs are angling towards offloading Reed Mahony and the one position where they do not currently have any emerging stars in number 9.
Yes they are rumoured to be looking at Bailey Hayward as their number 9, I’d say they would be more inclined to keep Hayward as their number 14 if they could snag a talented young number 9 such as Da Silva.
You are spot on mate, this wad always going to happen.

Excerpt from SMH ...

Newcastle has since floated a swap deal that would see Da Silva join the Knights in exchange for English back-rower Kai Pearce-Paul taking up his three-year deal with the Tigers (originally for next season) before the June 30 mid-season deadline. Da Silva’s agent has in turn requested and been granted permission to go to market before November 1.

I just wonder whether Richo has allowed TDS to go to market early because Richo knows or suspects the Perth Bears will come in with a big offer for TDS for '27 onwards as the Bears will want to secure some PR signings asap.

1 - Then TDS happy to stay at WT for 2026 as backup to Api and allow more time for Haywood to develop.
2 - Then possibly the Newcastle loan deal for the rest of just this season returns to the table in exchange for KPP coming early.
+ 3 - Takes Api off the table for the Perth Bears.

V he hasn't done anything stupid. The Galvin situation initially was strategic but then it backfired and he was backed into a corner due to the bullying claims imo.
nup, Richo completely botched that situation. His risk assessment of that situation was piss poor.
He reacted emotionally and was checkmated extremely easily.

Storm were lucky they had a hopeless Club like us willing to give him a year to grease up and break free of his training wheels. Remember when we thought he’d stay… hahahaha
Well we did have Newcastle ask to loan him, and it sounds like we said “you can have him for good, just give us the player we already signed 3 months early.”.

If only Melbourne said that to us about Harry.

Galvin was always going to leave. Richo called his bluff. Then Luai, Turuva, and May ruined all the leverage we had by opening the door for the Galvin camp to make bullying claims. Three of our “leaders” really cost our club in this situation. They couldn’t control their emotions.

I dont think thats a gr8 deal for us
Can only think that TDS isnt highly rated by Benji/Richo.as they certainly arent bending over backwards to retain him
..or they have a plan B

The way Richo did it emboldened those guys. He spoke with emotion and divulged information he didn’t need to.
The only person in that entire shitshow who can hold their head up is Benji.

Extremely torn tbh on the Api vs Da Silva debate. I think I lean Api as I think we need success in the next three years and he is our best bet on that - very hard call though. Haven’t seen enough of Heywood either to make any kinda of judgement on him.

No no no no. The 3 of the 4 were all starters in 2017. Galvin is the exception though it could be argued that it was not a long term plan for him to be the starter.
I get that they were further along in their careers but a “development club” shouldn’t be losing its best juniors.

Who’s to say Makasini won’t be next?
