We are that front loaded in contracts we have 3/4 of our cap available for 2026.We’ve been front loading contracts for years. Hasn’t helped.
Do you think he’s worth that money, I don’t ?
I don’t think a 34y.o Api is worth that money either.
wait.I know for a fact south's have been in talks with the club regarding keeping bud , and he is also happy to stay there but the signing of this new bloke probably means they couldn't reach an agreement financially. For the records Bud got no problem returning to the tigers as he has a really good relationship with Luai and a few of the boys. I think he will be back next year.
Sure, he has a say in the players he wants but he doesn’t have a say in the contract amount that’s offered. That’s Richo and the board. If a player receives a better offer elsewhere they may accept it even if the coach wanted them to stay. That’s standard practise across the nrl although some coaches have more of a say than others. There is almost zero chance Benji wouldn’t have a say in who stays and goes.
No. SOO payments don’t count against the cap. It’s only when club contracts include bonus clauses for players who make SOO that those payments from the club count against the cap.oh really?
Interesting how Richo's call that he was offered the most lucrative contract to a junior in WT history has translated to $1m+ They never even looked at the contract so Richo can pump it up as much as he wants in order to show that Galvin never planned to stay a Tiger. Also Stefano on 800k would have been hideous
I think too, we see a tier of player talent at 1m that surpasses all others. If he gets that cash then some club believes he is worth it regardless what we think.
Clubs will be forced to pay overs for potential.
In 3-4yrs wouldn’t surprise me if most clubs had 4-6 players on $1m each based on cap increase, market and squad sizes reductions
Wow. I totally forgot about that. Damn that's a grim halves pairing. It's important to remember we are a club only a season or two removed from Jackson Hastings, Brandon Wakefield etc being our halves.
Yeah I recall reading this is why the panthers had to start breaking up their band I though it was due to the match payments themselves but must of been caveats in place if the players are to make a rep side. I wonder if any of our players have such bonus’s built in to their contracts? No, not really. But a lot of contracts do have clauses for bonuses if the player makes a rep team. Can't say if it is the case for Utoikamanu or any other specific individual but the bonuses are factored in to the cap.
that’s why while it sucks we aren’t winning I’m not feeling as bad as others seem to on here. Having to watch wakeham, brooks, Douehi at fullback was pure pain 😭Wow. I totally forgot about that. Damn that's a grim halves pairing.
Yeah but they could usually score more than 2 tries per game, that’s the scary part.that’s why while it sucks we aren’t winning I’m not feeling as bad as others seem to on here. Having to watch wakeham, brooks, Douehi at fullback was pure pain 😭
Could be worse. Could be Ben Black and Ben Jeffries.Wow. I totally forgot about that. Damn that's a grim halves pairing.
yeah we’d always be able to score points, it’s kinda the dna of the club. 2005 wasn’t won with defenceYeah but they could usually score more than 2 tries per game, that’s the scary part.
Joey Manu will laugh for about 30 seconds before saying "Oh you were serious? Sorry, no thanks."
He’s got his finger in the back door.did anyone know one of John Hopoate’s son’s is with us on a scholarship deal lol
The epitome of slow motion replay.Wow. I totally forgot about that. Damn that's a grim halves pairing.
